Applications of Bi metal
Bi metal is nothing but a combination of two metals to make it one. These metals are casted in such a way that it converts into a single metal used to make the substance stronger and recognisable in some cases. The casting of bi metal begins with controlled melting and alloying of nonferrous materials. The melting of metals are done through advanced coreless induction furnaces. A set of trained professional carefully monitors the process of melting. The heat of molten metal is well controlled in the laboratory to check if the client requirement is met. The usage of these bimetals can be seen in Bimetallic strips, thermometer, blades etc. Bimetallic Strips The Billet Aluminium strips and plates are renowned as they change over an increase or decrease in temperature. As it is Bimetallic strips (containing two different strips), the metals are heated at two different rates. These strips are usually copper and steel exceptional of the times when it is steel and brass. Through riveting, welding and brazing the strips are joined throughout the length. When the strip is further heated it bend on one side as the expansion of both strips are different. The placement of these strip is done in such a way that the strip with higher coefficient thermal expansion is placed outside while heating and vice versa while cooling. The Bimetallic Strips finds application in clocks, thermostats, thermometer and Electrical devices.
Bimetal blades A bimetal blade is made of high-speed steel and the body portion is made of string. These two portions of blade are welded properly to make it one. The edge of these blades is sharp and is longer as compared to the carbon blade. The benefit of having a spring steel body is that it allows the blade to bend without breaking that is very common with carbon blade.
A renowned group, Metenere Limited, have been a successful Bi Metal manufacturers in india and of metals like lead and since 1989. The founder if this group Mr. Raman Gupta, have worked hard in spreading the organization in India which also covers international market. At India, the company has five manufacturing plants The branches of this company across state are well equipped with smelting, refining and casting capabilities and are involved in recycling of battery scraps, lead concentrate, re-melted lead ingots and lead scrap radio.
