The seminar also discusses the profitability that body shops can enjoy from participating and specializing in these new industry trends, as well as how to navigate challenging insurance company dynamics to get paid for their services. The attendee will leave with an understanding of the history, evolution, and future of advanced driver assist systems. The attendee will understand the importance and nuances of properly recalibrating these systems in order to restore the fully safety functionality to the vehicle’s pre-collision condition. Using OEM position papers/repair procedures, recognized SOPs from 3M, information from DEG inquiries and missed operations identified in the SCRS Guide to Complete Repair Planning and other resources, attendees will see how to use estimate lines, line notes and photos to effectively document their repair process. MSO Believes in USI ITALIA Spray Booths Three Times in Less Than Two Years

When you get a piece of equipment that allows you to excel, you stick with it and attain more if you can. Pinkowski now relies on his newest USI spray booth every day and is confident that they will be called upon to handle heavy loads as time goes on, as well as making his shops more profitable, just like what the first two have achieved. “Right now, we’re using these spray booths to save time and money," he said. "We save time because we're painting the vehicles more

quickly and we never get comebacks because the quality is exceptional. In addition, we use less energy, and our painters are comfortable using these booths. Our USI booths outperform all of the other booths we own, mainly because of the way they work. This means that we get more productive hours out of them while improving cycle time and increasing our profitability.”

Currently, Pinkowski has two painters at each of his three locations that are using the USI Italia spray booths. "Even our new painters were able to get a feel for these USI booths quickly and have mastered the ins and outs of them fast," he said. "I’m fairly certain that none of our painters had used this type of booth before. It was all new to them – how it worked and what it does differently – but they adapted very easily. At this point, we’ve done three hands-on training sessions with USI, in which the painters actually get to paint something and learn the process from start to finish. The first time, they worked on a bumper and then once they gained some confi-dence, they got to do complete jobs.” Pinkowski is impressed with the team at USI and has undoubtedly benefitted from his relation-ship with USI personnel. “Their communication was amazing and it made the entire process easy. The contractors that USI brought in to assemble our third booth all did a wonderful job and exceeded all of our expectations. They were on time with everything and very detail-oriented. The communication was phenomenal, so we knew what was going on before it was going to happen, which isn't always the case with other suppliers.”

MAXON HYUNDAI MAZDA BUICK GMC For New Jersey parts industry mainstay Rick Weber, building personal, one-on-one relationships with customers is as important today as it was when he first started in the trade back in the early ’80s. Known to Garden State repairers as the longtime parts director at Maxon Hyundai/Mazda (and now Buick-GMC!) in Union, Weber and the Maxon Parts Department see customers as more than just numbers on an order. POLYCRACKER Polycracker is located in Boonton, NJ. For more than

25 years, the company has been a provider of specialty chemicals for the removal of wax, grease, silicones and Armor-All from surfaces to prepare them for fisheye-free coatings and painting. Polycracker was the first to introduce a water-based chemical in this industry and is still the number one choice. Most fisheye problems are caused by poly-silicone, the ingredient in all of today’s most durable paint protection systems and waxes. Successful refinishing of treated vehicles requires removal of all traces of these chemicals – Polycracker was designed to do just that. Plus, Polycracker completely removes oil, grease, lubricants, fingerprints and dirt. Fisheye eliminators are the not the answer. Adding fisheye eliminator to all paint jobs – “just in case” – can cause major problems down the road, because fisheye eliminators contain some of the same ingredients as the waxes. Adding fisheye eliminators to paint can make the paint compatible with the wax, but using it can create adhesion problems, or wax residue accumulation. Clearcoats are even worse. Using eliminator in single stage top coats is a remedy that can be pulled off, but using the chemicals in primers or the basecoats of twoor three-stage finishes can be hazardous. Using eliminator may help you get the base on, but when you apply the clear, you could get thousands of fisheyes. When that happens, your only chance of saving the job is by adding large doses of eliminator to the clearcoat. This can mean countless small fisheyes that you will later attempt to color, sand and buff out. By doing so, you’re risking slippage (adhesion problems) down the road. The simple solution is to eliminate fisheye at its source. Use POLYCRACKER before sanding and before painting to ELIMINATE fisheye for good! Please contact us at polycracker@netscape.com.
