NJCAA 75TH ANNIVERSARY In May of 1938, representa ves from area ins tu ons of higher learning gathered in Fresno, Calif., to form a unique collegiate athle c organiza on dedicated to America’s community and junior colleges. Seventy‐five years a er its inaugural season (1938‐39), the NJCAA is now the second‐largest na onal intercollegiate athle c governing body in the United States with over 500 member colleges in 43 states. Recognized as the leader in two‐year collegiate athle cs, the NJCAA champions both athle c and academic opportuni es for student‐athletes in concert with its member colleges. To commemorate its 75th Anniversary, the NJCAA will launch a year‐long campaign to celebrate the milestones, student‐athletes, coaches, and administrators that have helped shape the organiza on and advance two‐year collegiate athle cs over the past eight decades. Throughout the 2012‐13 academic year, the NJCAA will celebrate its 75th Anniversary through various outlets, including a special sec on of the NJCAA website: NJCAA.org/75. Tradi onal press releases will be distributed to member colleges as well as regional and na onal media during the 2012‐13 sports season and special 75th Anniversary content will be produced for the organiza on’s monthly publica on ‐ NJCAA Review. NJCAA TV, powered by iHigh.com, as well as Facebook and Twi er will be used to help keep member colleges, fans and followers informed on the latest 75th Anniversary news and announcements.
