NJIT DATA SCIENCE STUDENTS UBS Pitch Challenge - NJIT Team in the Finals! We are pleased to announce three NJIT Data Science Students made it to the final round of the UBS Pitch Challenge. 25 Teams from New Jersey Big Data Alliance (NJBDA) universities submitted proposals. NJIT's team "Highlander Trio" was one of the seven teams selected to go to the finals to compete for the grand prize of $10,000. Congratulations to Shrey Sharma, Ankita Talwar, and Likhitha Musku!

SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS by Institute Director Dr. David Bader The White House's Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) invited distinguished professor David Bader, director of the Institute for Data Science, to a virtual meeting on Pioneering the Future Advanced Computing Ecosystem, held August 17-18, 2020, The meeting was organized by the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) Subcommittee on the Future Advanced Computing Ecosystem (FACE). On August 25, 2020, distinguished professor David Bader gave an invited talk on Solving Global Grand Challenges with High Performance Data Analytics to the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC)'s Virtual Data Science Workshop, held August 25-26, 2020. "The mission of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is to deliver vital public and military engineering services; partnering in peace and war to strengthen our nation’s security, energize the economy and reduce risks from disasters." On August 24, 2020, distinguished professor David Bader gave a tutorial at KDD 2020 on Accelerating and Expanding End-to-End Data Science Workflows with DL/ML Interoperability Using RAPIDS, along with co-presenters Bartley Richardson (NVIDIA), Brad Rees (NVIDIA), Tom Drabas (Microsoft), Even Oldridge (NVIDIA), and Rachel Allen (NVIDIA). "The RAPIDS suite of open source software libraries and APIs gives you the ability to execute end-to-end data science and analytics pipelines entirely on GPUs."
