An architectural design element that is often overlooked in a home is the ceiling. If you just look up you will see a vast blank canvas. Here are some design techniques to make them interesting and unexpected. Adding architectural details like this really distinguishes your home, ultimately adding value. If your ceilings are 9’0” or more, you can add coffer details to provide various levels. A great place to conceal lighting or to bring attention to hand applied paint texture, stencils, or murals. Incorporating non-structural hand hewn beams can instantly add warmth

and character to a plain white ceiling. If you are looking for a stately sophisticated look in a library or study consider adding an all wood ceiling with wood beams. To achieve a historical feel, consider using authentic metal ceiling such as tin or copper. The metal can be aged to give a weathered appearance or even painted a solid color. There are other ways to distinguish your ceiling without construction or adding woodworking. Consider using different types of faux finishing techniques that can add depth and character to a ceiling. Luterstone is a hand troweled finish that adds a highly dimensional natural stone effect. This product is very durable and easy to repair. There are many standard and custom colors available. Each artist has their own style of application that truly adds the artistic flair to the technique. If your room is formal, gold or silver leafing is an exquisite option,

adding sparkle and shimmer. If you can’t find exactly what you are in search of in the way of pattern, I have been inspired and provided designs using wallpaper motifs that can be applied freehand or created into a stencil. for children with special needs, offers a variety of activities for children ages 3 through 13 with special needs, including (1) in collaboration with the JCC of Central NJ, six education programs per year for families with young

children with special needs; (2) religious school classes for children ages 6 through 13 with special needs whose needs cannot be met in the mainstream; and (3) preparation for b’nei mitzva.
