The finest original European art at Chetkin Gallery
C
hetkin Gallery, established in 1987, has a selection of internationally renowned painters that evolved from a handful of French artists to about four dozen artists from France, China, England, Italy, Spain, Poland, Russia, Ireland, the Ukraine, Holland, and Canada. The ambiance of the gallery is Pierre Chandelier’s “Fenêtre fermée” Classical Impressionism, oil, 32 x 26 in. Post Impressionism, and Contemporary Impressionism. It is always a pleasure to assist first-time buyers or seasoned collectors in acquiring the right painting for their art collection. The gallery provides art consultations for both residential and corporate accounts, whether selecting one or several works of art, as well as creative custom framing. Conveniently located adjacent to the gallery is Chetkin Custom Framing for all of your framing needs. Red Bank: It’s your city
R
ed Bank is a bustling hub of 19th-century charm, 21st-century cachet, and just enough grit to keep it real. People come from miles around to enjoy our street musicians and artists, watch sailboats race on the river, dine at a sidewalk café, and shop in our boutiques. In the spring, our sidewalks are festooned with beautiful flowers and our cozy benches invite you to linger, eat an ice cream, or just watch the passersby. Seasonal celebrations, grand music and food festivals, and our envied Farmer’s Market bring summer to life and offer visitors an experience that is as unique as our town itself. Here you’ll find just the right balance between atmosphere, amenities, and old-fashioned hospitality. We invite you to make Red Bank your city! Culture The Count Basie Theatre, Two River Theater, and Bow-Tie Cinema Movie House bring stage and screen to life in Red Bank. And whether it’s the new Detour Gallery, with its impressive murals and iconic sculpture on the exterior, or a tried and true favorite like Beacon Fine Arts, Chetkin Gallery, the Art Alliance, and more, art lovers won’t be at a loss for things to do in Red Bank. Since the days of favorite native son William “Count” Basie, Red Bank has been a hub for culture and arts. And New Jerseyans think so, too — we were just voted the Best Downtown Arts District by Discover Jersey Arts for the third year in a row! Dining Our restaurants tickle the taste buds with savory and sweet cuisines. From a quick bite, to a business lunch, to an exquisitely prepared artisan meal, you’ll find it here. Coffee houses, dessert shops, delis, and the most superb casual and fine dining options make Red Bank a true dining mecca that couldn’t possibly be conquered in just one trip. Shopping Red Bank’s famed antique district beckons to those who love all things with a patina of time, and modern boutiques and fashionable shops surprise and delight even the most discriminating tastes. Whether offering the old or the new, our shops provide an experience you won’t find online. Countless treasures through every door make Red Bank a true destination for finders of the unique. Play All you need do is step onto the sidewalks of Red Bank and your adventure begins. Live music fills our lounges and nightclubs. You can play the night away with a vintage video game or a mystery-solving experience. Tap into your creative side with an art or pottery lesson, stroll along the scenic Navesink River, or strap on your ice skates at the famed Red Bank Ice Armory.

Low dose Genius™ 3D Mammography™ exams are clinically proven to increase invasive cancer detection and reduce recall rates
ittle Silver Mammography Center is excited to offer the latest in breast cancer screening advances: low dose Genius™ 3D Mammography™ exams, developed by Hologic, Inc., a worldwide leader in women’s health. Utilizing advanced breast tomosynthesis technology, Genius exams are clinically proven to significantly increase the detection of breast cancers while simultaneously decreasing the number of women asked to return for additional testing. In conventional 2D mammography, overlapping tissue is a leading reason why small breast cancers may be missed and normal tissue may appear abnormal, leading to unnecessary callbacks. A Genius exam includes a three-dimensional method of imaging that can greatly reduce this tissue overlap effect. A Genius low dose 3D Mammography™ exam includes both 2D images and tomosynthesis scans. During the tomosynthesis portion of the exam, an X-ray arm sweeps in a slight arc over the breast, taking multiple images. A computer then converts the images into a stack of thin layers, allowing the radiologist to review the breast tissue one layer at a time. A low dose Genius exam requires no additional compression and each scan is complete in just a few seconds. The platform for the Genius exam is the Hologic Selenia® Dimensions® system, the only clinically superior breast tomosynthesis system as approved by the FDA. The new system is recommended for women of all ages and breast densities. The system allows our radiologists to more effectively pinpoint the size, shape, and location of abnormalities. This leads to better detection and greater peace of mind for our patients. Large clinical studies in the United States and Europe have demonstrated the positive benefits of a Genius 3D Mammography™ exam. The largest study to date on breast cancer screening using the Genius exam was published in the June 25, 2014, issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association. Findings include: A 41 percent increase in the detection of invasive breast cancers. A 29 percent increase in the detection of all breast cancers. A 15 percent decrease in women recalled for additional imaging. Little Silver Mammography Center is committed to the fight against breast cancer. In offering the Genius exam, Little Silver Mammography Center provides the latest and most effective imaging tool for breast cancer screening. By bringing digital tomosynthesis to Little Silver Mammography Center, we can detect breast cancer that conventional digital mammograms miss. One in eight women will develop breast cancer and if we can find it early, the five-year survival rate is 97 percent. Our goal with 3D mammography is to offer early detection even earlier. It’s quick, specifically designed for patient comfort, and unquestionably the best tool available in the fight against breast cancer, according to Dr. Robert Wold, president of Red Bank Radiologists, Little Silver Mammography Center. To schedule a Genius™ 3D Mammography™ exam or for more information about this breast health procedure, call 732-741-9595.

Trailblazing new musical comes to Red Bank
T
his June, Two River Theater concludes its 2016/17 season with “The Ballad of Little Jo,” a new production of an ambitious, artful musical that we believe will become a major addition to the canon of great American theater. Based on a film of the same name and set in the late 19th century, “The Ballad of Little Jo” is inspired by the remarkable real-life story of a woman named Josephine Monaghan. Originally from Boston, Josephine lived in a tough Idaho mining town for nearly 20 years, disguised as a man called “Jo.” Brought to life with a melodic, moving, and hauntingly beautiful score, “The Ballad of Little Jo” features folk-ballad infused songs by Grammy Awardwinning Nashville songwriter Mike Reid (whose many hits include “I Can’t Make You Love Me”) and lyricist Sarah Schlesinger. Reid and Schlesinger’s previous collaborations include Two River Theater’s much-loved productions of “In This House” and “A Wind in the Willows Christmas.” Two River artistic director John Dias is co-writing the book and making his Two River directorial debut with this production. “Little Jo” had its world premiere at Steppenwolf Theatre Company in 2000, in a production that prompted John Lahr to call it “the best piece of musical storytelling I have seen in a decade” in The New Yorker. This gorgeous musical is epic in its sweep, intimate in its relationships, and sure to touch the heart. “The Ballad of Little Jo” will feature Jane Bruce (“Elf,” “Missed Connections: A Craigslist Musical”) as Sarah, Daniel K. Isaac (“According to My Mother,” “Billions”) as Tin Man Wong, Eric William Morris (“Be More Chill,” “Mamma Mia!”) as Jordan, and Teal Wicks (“Finding Neverland,” “Wicked”) as Jo. The company also includes Cole Burden, Brian Flores, Leenya Rideout, Christopher Russo, Perry Sherman, Kristin Stokes, Ian Michael Stuart, and Barbara Tirrell. In conjunction with the show, Two River Theater will host a series of free “Inside Two River” events: Film Screening: “The Ballad of Little Jo” Friday, May 5, 7 p.m. Join us for a screening of Maggie Greenwald’s 1993 film that inspired the musical. Hear from the production’s creative team on how they translated this story from screen to stage by capturing pivotal moments and emotions through song. Open Rehearsal: “The Ballad of Little Jo” Tuesday, May 9, 7 p.m. Get a behind-the-scenes sneak peek of “The Ballad of Little Jo” as director John Dias and the cast explore select scenes and songs from the production. The rehearsal will close with a short Q&A session, followed by dessert and coffee in the lobby. Book Club: True Grit by Charles Portis Monday, June 19, 6:30 p.m. Adapted twice into famous films, this 1968 novel is considered one of the greatest American Westerns. The story of Mattie Ross, a tough 14-year-old girl who enlists a grizzled ex-Marshall with a reputation for violence to help her seek revenge on her father’s killer. Along with “The Ballad of Little Jo,” we’ll talk about the Western as a genre, the changing portrayal of men and women, and the dangerous allure of the frontier in art and life. Performances of “The Ballad of Little Jo” run from June 3 to 25. For tickets for any of the above events, visit tworivertheater.org or call 732-345-1400.

realize that there’s no need to shop anywhere else. We belong to the nation’s largest independent appliance store buying cooperative, so our customers know that they receive the best pricing. According to owner Michael Belforti, “Our customer service and expertise is what differentiates us in the market. Customers want to be confident that they are purchasing the “right” appliance. They simply cannot get the same personal attention, advice, and expertise from searching the internet or at many big box type retailers. Our customers know this and appreciate our commitment to this level of customer service. Better Housekeeping Shop provides every major brand of home appliance, we service everything we sell, and we’ve been a family run business for over 75 years.

Red Bank Volvo is redefining what it means to be a luxury car dealership
I
n 2015, Red Bank Volvo completely remodeled their Newman Springs dealership with modern furnishings, a spacious waiting area in the service center, and an open floor plan. The result of their renovation makes buying a car a completely new experience. Red Bank Volvo feels like an art gallery where each vehicle is a masterpiece. More importantly, Red Bank Volvo continues their excellent reputation as being a dealership that puts the community first. For 60 years, they’ve been doing business fairly and honestly with Monmouth County residents. They offer competitive pricing and treat every customer with respect. Doing business in this
manner has established Red Bank Volvo as a lasting member of the community. In fact, they are the oldest Volvo dealership in America. And with age comes experience: Volvo is forever redefining luxury vehicles. Take the 2017 Volvo S90 T6 as an example: This brand-new vehicle, just released, includes an intercooled turbo engine and an 8-speed Geartronic automatic transmission with overdrive. And the all-new XC90 is also creating quite a buzz, with stunning craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology; in fact, it was the 2016 Motor Trend SUV of the Year. For these reasons and more, visit our Red Bank showroom for a truly exceptional car-buying experience.

One in eight women will develop breast cancer and if we can find it early, the fiveyear survival rate is 97 percent.
