NewHomeleader: Park,Choisung(James)

WhenIfirstcametoHyeopjae,inyear8,everything–friends,boardingmasters,andeven myownroom–feltawkward.However,afterthreeyearsinHyeopjae,Iamnowwritingthis asthenewhomeleaderofthisboardinghome.Overthelastthreeyears,Hyeopjaehas transformedfromasimple“boardinghome”toasecondorevenmyrealhomeforme.

Friendswhowereawkwardatthebeginningofmyboardinglifearenowoneofmybest friendswhoshareacloserbondthanafamily.EverytimeIcamebackfromalongbreak,I alwaysfeltwelcomedandsafeinHyeopjae.Somemightfeelthatboardinglifeconsistsof strictrulesandregulations.YetIbelievethatsuchruleshaveallowedmetonotonly acquirereal-lifeskillsbutalsomakeacademicprogress.Reflectingonmylastthreeyears, whichwerefilledwithlaughterandsmiles,IamlookingforwardtonextyearʼsHyeopjae!

Thisacademicsemester,Ihavebeenselectedto representourschoolintheunder13Fobisia games,whichtookplacefrom1stofMarch,right until6thofMarch.Itwasaverygoodexperience formeandmyteammates,andwehadavery successfulweek.Fromobjectivelybeingverybad atBasketball,togettingfirstplaceinswimming andathletics.Thistripwasunforgettable,andI

ThisyearʼsGolfFOBISIAwasbothacompetition andatripIwillneverforgetthroughoutmylife. Althoughitwasnotsuccessfulasitwas,Ilearnt variousthingsfromthebeautifulcoursesIplayed;I learnttheuniquecultureofPhilippinespeopleand resilience,furtherimprovingspecificgolfskillssuch asapproachingandtrouble-shot.Ibecamefondof variouspeopleIencounteredinthegolfcourse, internationalfriendsthatspreadacrosstheglobe. Overall,thismemorableFOBISIAtriphastaughtme manyvaluablelessons,whilerelievingmefromthe academicpressureinKorea.

Outside,therainwasfallingheavily.Astheunlikelypair approachedthetower,theynoticeditwasnowsurroundedby water.Whatusedtobegrassandtilehadbeenreplacedwitha footofwateranditwasrising.Luckily,Seungyuhasbeengoing toswimminglessonseveryweekandJiuwasafishsoswimming camenaturallytothemboth.Theyswamtothetowerandlooked up.ThewaterwasnowuptoSeungyuʼschest.Theyhadtofinda waytogetinsidequickly,orelsehewouldsoonbeunderwater.
