Afteralongsummer,theboardingstaffandboyswereexcitedtobebackintheHyeopjaeboardinghome,meetingoldfriendsand welcomingnewones.Allthenewboyssettledverywellintotheirnewenvironment,andtheyalreadyhadplentyoffunintheboarding homeandatschool!AlltheseboardingactivitiesandlifeinHyeopjaeboardinghomeishelpingtheboystogrow,mature,develop resilienceandleadership.
This ½termhasbeenabusyone.Wewilltrytosharetheirprogressregularly,andnewsfromtheboardinghome,viaourinstagrampage andnewsletters.
Itiswithheartfeltsadnesswesharewithyouthelatestnewsfromtheschool. Butweareafamily,staff,boysandparentsincluded!Wewill“stayandgrowstrongtogether”asIwillalsomoveandstaywiththeboysin theotherBoardinghome.

ThereisanewgamingcrazetakingoverHyeopjae.Onewhereopponents engageinstagedbattlesemployingqueenʼsgambits,Siciliandefensesand Londonopenings.Boardersarehookedontheultimategame;competingusing knights,bishops,rooksandpawnstobecomeourhousechesschampion. Chesshascometotheboardingcommunityandpromotingquickthinking, problem-solvingandgoodoldstrategicthinking.Wehavehadourfirst tournamentoftheyearbackinSeptember.Ourreigningboardingchampion wasDaniel,year11.Hisvictoryhasledtoourotherboardersacrosstheyears toreadbooksandwatchclipsondevelopingnew waystobethenewkingofchessinHyeopjae.Boardersareusingtheirnew chessknowledgetobekingsofthechessboardintheirownright,developing coordinatedattacks,controllingthecenterandperfectingtheirendgame.In thisbattleoftheminds,theonewholooksbeforetheyleapwillbetheultimate champion.Hopefully,me.
