BoardingHouseSpiritAward

The Boarding team is proud to nominate Minyoung Ju (Melissa), Year 10, for the House Spirit Award. Over the years, Melissa has been an outstanding role model, consistently embodying the IHO house values with integrity and enthusiasm. She takes part in every house activity, never misses an event, and always follows house rules with care and respect. Her kind, polite manner and positive attitude towards both staff and peers truly set her apart. SpringOrchestralSpectacular

Our orchestra recently delivered a truly unforgettable performance, featuring two diverse and powerful pieces. We started off the evening with Mozart’s Don Giovanni overture, a dramatic and energetic piece that set the tone with its fast-paced tempo and dramatic intensity. The rapid shifts in mood kept the audience excited, capturing the opera’s tension and excitement.

The second highlight of the evening was Highland Cathedral, accompanied by a professional Scottish bagpiper. This piece brought a beautiful contrast to the first, with its majestic bagpipe melodies evoking the spirit of Scottish tradition. The fusion of classical orchestration and folk music created a captivating atmosphere, reminding us of how music from different cultures can stir similar emotions and connect us all. It was a performance that truly celebrated the diversity and emotional power of music.

JuniorHouseSinging-Grace

In this term, the whole junior school did a house singing competition on the 14th of March. 4 of our junior students had a solo part in their house song. Everyone had an amazing time, and we all cheered for each other. I think it was a great experience, and a great chance to build our teamwork and cooperation. Jooha-DanceWorld

This term has been an incredible journey in dance, filled with challenges, creativity, and unforgettable memories. I had the opportunity to perform a solo in the dance recital, exploring the life cycle of a black hole, as well as taking part in a group piece about eating disorders and a Dance Society performance centered on cults. Each piece pushed me to embody complex emotions and refine my storytelling through movement.

However, what truly made this term special were the moments shared with my fellow dancers. From latenight rehearsals to spontaneous laughter in the studio, every practice was a reminder of the joy of collaboration. The process of building something together, supporting each other, and watching our hard work come to life was just as rewarding as the performances themselves.

Looking back, this term has not only strengthened my technique but also deepened my appreciation for dance as a shared experience. I’m grateful for the growth, the friendships, and the memories made, and I can’t wait to see what’s next.

Beyond the stage, I also participated in hiphop and K-pop busking performances, stepping outside my comfort zone and embracing new styles. Through these experiences, I learned the importance of adaptability and stage presence.

KaylinandMelissa-Basketball

On February 14th and 15th, the High School Basketball KISAC tournament brought together teams from international schools across Jeju, Busan, Seoul, and Daegu for an intense and thrilling competition. Every player showcased exceptional teamwork, resilience, and sportsmanship, both on and off the court. While the Varsity team put up a strong fight and secured a commendable 4th place finish, the Junior Varsity team triumphed, claiming an impressive 1st place victory!
