INTERVIEW AFTER RECEIVING MOCK EXAM RESULTS & PREPARING FOR IGCSES
Q: HOW DID YOU FEEL WHEN YOU RECEIVED YOUR MOCK EXAM RESULTS?
A: I HAD A MIX OF EMOTIONS WHEN I SAW MY RESULTS SOME SUBJECTS TURNED OUT BETTER THAN I EXPECTED, WHICH WAS A RELIEF, BUT THERE WERE ALSO A FEW WHERE I KNEW I COULD HAVE DONE BETTER IT WAS A BIT OF A WAKE-UP CALL BECAUSE MOCKS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE A PREVIEW OF HOW I'LL DO IN THE ACTUAL IGCSES AT FIRST, I FELT DISAPPOINTED IN MYSELF FOR THE AREAS WHERE I UNDERPERFORMED, BUT AFTER THINKING ABOUT IT, I REALIZED THIS IS EXACTLY WHY MOCK EXAMS EXIST TO SHOW ME WHERE I NEED TO IMPROVE BEFORE THE REAL THING.
Q: WHAT LESSONS HAVE YOU LEARNED FROM THE MOCK EXAMS?
A: ONE OF THE BIGGEST THINGS I LEARNED IS THAT TIME MANAGEMENT IS KEY THERE WERE A FEW PAPERS WHERE I FELT RUSHED TOWARDS THE END, AND THAT PROBABLY AFFECTED MY ANSWERS I ALSO REALIZED THAT MEMORIZING CONTENT ISN’T ENOUGH I NEED TO PRACTICE APPLYING MY KNOWLEDGE, ESPECIALLY IN SUBJECTS LIKE MATH AND SCIENCE, WHERE PROBLEM-SOLVING MATTERS ANOTHER LESSON IS NOT TO NEGLECT CERTAIN TOPICS JUST BECAUSE THEY SEEM LESS IMPORTANT; SOME OF THE HARDER QUESTIONS CAME FROM AREAS I DIDN’T FOCUS ON ENOUGH MOVING FORWARD, I NEED TO ADJUST MY REVISION STRATEGY TO BE MORE BALANCED AND EFFICIENT
Q: HOW ARE YOU PREPARING DIFFERENTLY FOR YOUR IGCSES NOW?
A: SINCE IGCSES ARE COMING UP SOON, I’M BEING MORE STRUCTURED WITH MY REVISION INSTEAD OF JUST REREADING NOTES, I’M FOCUSING ON PAST PAPERS TO GET USED TO THE EXAM FORMAT AND TIMING FOR WEAKER SUBJECTS, I PLAN TO DO MORE ACTIVE RECALL TECHNIQUES LIKE FLASHCARDS ANOTHER BIG THING IS STAYING CONSISTENT I DON’T WANT TO CRAM EVERYTHING AT THE END, SO I’M MAKING SURE TO REVISE A LITTLE BIT EVERY DAY MOST IMPORTANTLY, I’M TRYING TO STAY POSITIVE AND NOT LET THE PRESSURE GET TO ME.

ACTUAL INTERNATIONAL GENERAL CERTIFICATE OF SECONDARY EDUCATION (IGCSE) EXAMS THEY ARE DESIGNED TO SIMULATE THE REAL EXAM CONDITIONS, HELPING STUDENTS ASSESS THEIR STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES MOCKS GIVE STUDENTS AN IDEA OF HOW THEY MIGHT PERFORM IN THE ACTUAL IGCSES AND HIGHLIGHT AREAS THAT NEED IMPROVEMENT THEY FOLLOW THE SAME STRUCTURE, TIME LIMITS, AND QUESTION STYLES AS THE REAL IGCSE EXAMS IMPORTANCE: SCHOOLS USE MOCK RESULTS TO PREDICT FINAL GRADES, GUIDE REVISION STRATEGIES, AND SOMETIMES DETERMINE ELIGIBILITY FOR EXAM ENTRIES
COMMENTARY ON PAST TERM FROM Y11S
This past year has been nothing short of amazing for Year 11, with a wave of successes across different areas, from sports to drama, and most importantly, the incredible sense of community that has come from all of it In every aspect of life, students have come together, worked hard, and shown what it means to push beyond limits, not only individually but as a team
One of the standout moments this year was the drama performances The energy and passion that came from the stage were incredible. Year 11 students, whether on stage or behind the scenes, put in so much effort, and it really paid off The way they worked together to create such a memorable experience for everyone, expressing creativity and emotion, showed their growth both as performers and as a team It wasn’t just about delivering lines, but about creating something that resonated with the audience, and that’s where they truly shone
In sports, Year 11 didn’t hold back either Table tennis was a huge success, with students showing great skill and determination in every match It was exciting to see how they pushed themselves, sometimes getting down to the wire, but always coming out with impressive results. The basketball team was also on fire this year The way they played together, using sharp strategies and supporting each other, was brilliant to watch They proved that teamwork truly makes the dream work Whether they were making quick passes or defending with all their might, they left it all on the court.
The boys' swimming team deserves a mention too The strength and endurance they showed in the pool were fantastic. It wasn’t just about speed; it was about pushing through the fatigue and helping each other along the way The swimmers broke personal records and reached new heights, reflecting the hard work they’d put into every training session Their success in the pool wasn’t only about winning – it was about how they supported each other and created an atmosphere where everyone thrived
Above all, what stood out this year wasn’t just the individual achievements but the positive energy that filled every room There was a sense of joy and togetherness that made everything feel even more special Whether it was on the sports field, in the drama studio, or during casual conversations, the overall vibe was one of mutual support, happiness, and the desire to see each other succeed Students celebrated each other’s victories, whether big or small, and that sense of community carried everyone through even the tougher days
Looking back, Year 11 has had a remarkable year full of success, growth, and happiness It’s not just about the trophies or the accolades – it’s about the journey, the teamwork, and the memories made along the way Every student has contributed to making this year one to remember, and as they move forward, they’ll carry these experiences with them, always striving for more but never forgetting the joy of the journey
