Weareaschoolthatpridesitselfontheambitiouseducationwedeliver.Inpart,thisispossibleduetothe inspiration we draw from our mother school, NLCS UK and the important bond that has developed betweenthetwoinstitutions.

9.1 AFTER SCHOOL CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

From 16.15 every weekday, except Fridays, there is a full programme of aer school Co-curricular activities (CCAs) for all students. Friday is House Competition day (see Section 9.3). During Tuesday, WednesdayandThursdayCCAtimeahugevarietyofactivityoptionsareofferedtostudents.

Thereare3blocksofactivitiesthroughouttheyear.Attheendofeachblock,studentsfollowtheprocess tochoosenewactivities(seeSection10.8).

9.2 THE BRYANT PROGRAMME

TheBryantprogrammeisauniqueandextensiveprogrammeofdifferentco-curricularactivitiesthatthe school providesonaSaturdaymorning,whichiscompulsoryforallseniorschoolstudentsinYears7to 12. However, Year 13 students may choose to spend this time completing academic assignments or preparinguniversityapplications

Activities run (ingeneral)from0900to1200 Theseactivitiesvaryfromscubadivingtofantasyfashion andtheschemeissobroadthatweareconfidentthereissomethingforeveryone.Studentswillselecta number of activities and then be allocated three Bryant activities throughout the year based on their preference.

Studentsareexpectedtochallengethemselvestotrythingstheyhavenotdonebefore,aswellastomeet new people and go to new places.AkeypartofboththeBryantandCo-curricularprogrammes,isthat studentslearnfromtheirexperiencesandbecomemorereflectiveindividuals

The Bryant programme also allows students to focus on a particular activity in order to develop their passionandexpertiseinthatactivity.

All students meet their tutors each morning for 30 minutes andtheHouseCompetitiontakesplaceon Fridays during period 9 & 10. NLCS Jeju is a boarding school that aims to provide outstanding pastoral care and excellent boarding provision for the boarding students in our care. There are many advantagestoboardingandBoarding Homestaffarehappytomeetwithparentsofdaystudentslookingtodiscovermore.

Parents wishing to change the status of their child from a day student to a boarder can complete an electronic form “Request for Day to Boarding Transfer (Change of Status)” which is available from the

iSAMS Parent Portal. A Boarding Handbook isavailablethatcontainsfurtherinformationforfamiliesof boardingstudents.

We try to ensure that allpossessionsarekeptsecureatalltimes,sopleaseensureallitemsofclothing and personal belongings are named A locker is provided for all students near his or her Tutorroom Students should never have large sums of money in their possession Students are discouraged from bringing unnecessary valuables to school, to avoid the risk of damage or loss The school carries no insuranceforstudentsʼpersonalbelongings.

Students are expected to be strictly honest with regard to money and/or property that they find and which does not belong to them. They should hand in anything that they find at the earliest possible opportunity,eithertotheirHeadofHouseoranothermemberofstaff.

All members of the NLCS Jeju community are valued as individualsandhavetherighttofeelsafeand happywithintheSchoolenvironment.NLCSJejuhasanAnti-BullyingPolicywhichisfullycommittedto preventing bullying in the firstplace,andtorobustandeffectiveactionswhenbullyinghasoccurred.A full copy of this policy is available to parents on the website or on request to the School. 14.6 STUDENT RELATIONSHIPS

One of the strengths of our school is the opportunity that boys and girls have to work and socialise together in and out of the classroom. In every aspect of school life, students collaborate together to produce excellent academic results and performances and to enhance their leadership skills. ExpectationsofParentsRegardingStudentDevices

Parents are key stakeholders in education and their involvement is linked to greater student achievement This is especially true with laptops for learningbecausethedeviceisusedbothathome and at school, soboththeSchoolandparentsneedtoactivelyassiststudentsandmonitortheiruseof thelaptop.Withlaptopsforlearning-

Parentsshouldprovideanappropriatelaptopdevicefortheirchildren.Theschoolrequireslaptop specifications(Minimum:MacbookAirLowestSpecs)toensureasefficientandsmoothalearning experienceaspossible.AllstudentsshoulduseaMacbookastheirprimarylearningdevice,while iPads/tablets will be allowed for annotation purposes starting with therevisionperiodsinYear 10/11,andcontinuingintoY12/13.

2 Parents should work with their child to remind them of their responsibility to register their alloweddevicesforuseontotheschoolnetworksotheirlearningisnotdisrupted

3 Parentsshouldworkwiththeirchildtopromotethestudentʼsresponsibilitytoproperlymaintain, secureandusetheirlaptopforlearning.
