WELL BEING WEDNESDAY. “YESTERDAY IS HISTORY. TOMORROW IS A MYSTERY. TODAY IS A GIFT. THAT’S WHY IT’S CALLED THE PRESENT. ” ― Blake Crouch, Wayward
WELLBEING WEDNESDAY
January 30th On January 30th, 2019, for the second well-being Wednesday, SWAG organised various mini games to promote an environment to socialise with new people and simply to have fun. Students had fun playing Giant Jenga, ring tossing game and parachute game.
February 13th On the 13th of February, for the third Well-being Wednesday of the term, the SWAG celebrated the World’s Random Act of Kindness day which is the 17th of February! During break time, the SWAG handed out missions of random act of kindness with treats to people passing by, and created a free Anonymous Positive Message Post box. One random act of kindness makes one’s day happy; the happiness then spreads, making our school and the world a better place to live in.
WELLBEING WEDNESDAY
February 20th On February 20th, 2019, for the fourth well-being Wednesday, SWAG ran bullying/Welfare focus group interview with random groups of students from year 7 to 11. The SWAG gathered various inspiring ideas regarding ways to improve student’s wellbeing. Some of the feedback included doing more focus group sessions so that every person’s voice is being heard. The SWAG will not only listen but will also take actions to all the feedback and concerns. Thank you all for your participation! Many students think that bullying is a distant matter. However, bullying can be done in many forms ranging from verbal to physical bullying. No one has to put up with bullying. Everyperson has the right to tell an individual who is bullying that the behaviour is unacceptable. Do not be a bystander and if you see someone being bullied, please report to a trusted adult or a teacher. Soon, there will be a bullying awareness group who will be selling badges so please look after that too!
FEBRUARYÂ HIGHLIGHTS JEJU WEEK
Recently, after the new launch of the Societies Present Week, numerous activities have been going on in our school. Societies such as Sonitas and LSBT have been holding student-led lectures as part of the Sejong Lecture Series. The school has also invited several professors to talk about Jeju dialect, biotechnology, Haenyo, and 4.3 Jeju Massacre. Most excitingly, some challenges like Golden Bell Challenge and Jeju Environment Creative Advocacy Contest are prepared. We hope that a lot of students and staff members join the events, explore new fields, and win challenge prizes!
FEBRUARY HIGHLIGHTS
Year 11 & 13 Mock Exams Finally, mock exams for year 13s and 11s have ended. The real exams are coming soon, and this is your chance to show all the effort you have put for the past couple of years. Please do not get stressed out because this test will (temporarily) be the last for you! Even though the workload might be a huge burden for you, please do not forget to have a balanced life. Nothing special, eat well, and sleep well! Lastly, good luck to everyone who is taking the exams:)
Wind in the Willows At the start of February, “The Wind in the Willows performance was held in the PAC. Directed by Mr Hamilton-Scott and his student co-directors, the play featured the story of a group of animals who goes through a series of conflicts to eventually realise the importance of generosity. For the past few months, the production team has been working on weekdays and weekends to produce a high-quality piece of theatre. As the result, the directors and actors managed to bring each character to life despite the complexity of the chosen play. The remarkable amount of effort was evident in the adorable, well-rehearsed choreography and the mature characterisation of our KS3 (Years 7-9) actors. All in all, the play was an absolute spectacle, with its impressive enthusiasm of the actors as well as the warm lesson the plot tried to convey to the audience.

For this February’s newsletter we have selected Mr. Pua and Sujung Woo as representatives of this title!
