t's a project now years in the works. For those hoping to know the future of the El Paso de RoblesYouth Correctional Facility, its fate remains in question. "Canceled" is not an appropriate word to use to describe the repurposing of the former El Paso de Robles Youth Correctional Facility, a California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) spokesman said on Friday. According to CDCR spokesman Bill Sessa, funding for the threepronged project – that included the Estrella Correctional Facility, 1,000-bed level two, low-risk prison, 500-bed secure community re-entry facility tentatively named the Central Coast Re-Entry Facility and a 130-bed Cal Fire conservation camp – has been suspended. Canceled simply isn't the right way to describe the project because the it’s currently on-hold as state official re-evaluate what the best use is for the site and following the release of Governor Jerry Brown's budget release, state officials said.
