Works he has commissioned have been performed by such prestigious organizations as the New York Philharmonic on Live at Lincoln Center, and the United States Marine Band (The President’s Own). He is an alumnus of the University of Puget Sound and the University of Michigan with degrees in music education and wind conducting. ●
Eric Rombach-Kendall conductor Eric Rombach-Kendall is Professor of Music at the University of New Mexico, where he has served as Director of Bands since 1993. Prior to his appointment at UNM, Mr. Rombach-Kendall held conducting positions at Boston University and Carleton College and taught in the Washington State Public Schools for six years. Mr. Rombach-Kendall served as President of the College Band Directors National Association from 2011-2013. He has been a guest conductor and clinician throughout the United States and Canada and has published articles in The Instrumentalist, New Mexico Musician, and Teaching Music Through Performance in Band. Mr. Rombach-Kendall’s bands have received national acclaim through their performances at the College Band Directors National Association National and Southwest Division Conferences, the MENC National Conference, North American Saxophone Alliance, Society of Composers, Inc., and the New Mexico Music Educators Conference. Mr. Rombach-Kendall is the conductor and co-producer of five recordings with the University of New Mexico Wind Symphony on Summit Records: Fandango, featuring Philip Smith, Principal Trumpet of the New York Philharmonic, and Joseph Alessi, Principal Trombone of the New York Philharmonic; Illuminations, featuring Mr. Alessi; Classic Solos for Winds, featuring woodwind faculty members at the University of New Mexico; Fascinating Ribbons; and Tales of Imagination, featuring UNM Horn Professor J. D. Shaw. An advocate of contemporary music, Mr. Rombach-Kendall has commissioned and premiered many works for wind
Martin Herman conductor Conductor Martin Herman has served as guest conductor with symphony orchestras worldwide. Known for his clarity, attention to detail, advocacy of new music by living composers, powerful interpretations of the classics, as well as his comfort with crossover popular concerts, he is one of today’s most versatile and promising conductors. He has recently conducted Das Sinfonie Orchester Berlin at the Berlin Philharmonie Kammermusiksaal, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra in the Sydney Opera House, the Philadelphia Orchestra, Odense Symphony Orchestra, Seattle Symphony, Detroit Symphony, North Carolina Symphony, Ft. Worth Symphony, Atlanta Symphony, Vancouver Symphony, Long Beach Symphony, and the San Diego Symphony. He also served as music director and conductor with Downtown Opera in Long Beach, California, conducting premieres of new operas in the US and the Czech Republic. In the fall of 2009, he was conductor and music director at LaMaMa Theatre in New York City, where he led performances of his one-act opera, The Doctor, based on Chekhov short stories. He has served as assistant conductor with the San Francisco Contemporary Music Players and conductor of the Berkeley Young Musicians Program Orchestra and U.C. Berkeley Summer Orchestra. Additionally, Mr. Herman has conducted several orchestra crossover projects in Amsterdam and Berlin. Artists . continued from 10 Mr. Herman studied conducting and composition at Duke University, the University of Pennsylvania, and the University of California, Berkeley. In addition, he spent two years in Paris, France, on a Fulbright Grant and the U.C. Berkeley Ladd Prix de Paris, where he worked as conductor and composer with the New American Music in Europe and American Music Week festivals. He has received recognition for his work in the promotion of international cultural exchange from the Trust for Mutual Understanding in New York City. ●
Brody Dolyniuk vocals Brody Dolyniuk is a multifaceted, selftaught musician who began his professional music career playing in piano bars. A chance meeting with a pair of star-shaped sunglasses led to forming a Las Vegas Elton John tribute band Brody called Yellow Brick Road. Soon YBR began going outside the EJ catalog to perform other classic rock giants such as Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and more. Within a year, YBR was a steady working band in the Las Vegas music scene and had cultivated a large local following. YBR also became an in-demand choice for the corporate entertainment market. In 2007, Brody lent his vocal talents to several tracks on the mega-hit video game Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. After 14 years of solid work, Brody stepped down as front man for YBR to pursue other avenues, namely his role as a vocalist for Windborne Music’s touring symphony shows, singing the music of Queen, and later The Who, The Rolling Stones, Elton John, U2, and Journey. Simultaneously, Brody had been developing his own production called Symphonic Rockshow and a touring Led Zeppelin tribute called Zeppelin USA. Now residing in Southern California, Brody continues to tour as well as perform as a producer and session musician. As a devout classic rock fan, Brody’s enthusiasm, vocal ability, and on-stage energy were the perfect fit for Windborne Music’s symphony shows, and he continues to win over audiences around the globe. ●

Oriol Sans conductor Oriol Sans was born in Catalonia, Spain, where he began his musical studies when he was five years old. At the age of nine he began to study violin and piano when he became a member of the Escolania de Montserrat. He graduated in Orchestral and Choral Conducting from the Barcelona Conservatory and received the school’s Honors Award in both specialties. In 2006, Oriol became a student in Orchestral Conducting at the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre, and Dance, where he studied with Professor Kenneth Kiesler as the recipient of the Dorothy Greenwald Scholarship for promising instrumentalists, conductors, and composers. In December 2007, the Agustí Pedro i Pons Foundation in Barcelona granted him a scholarship for upper-level musical studies. He received his Master’s degree in Orchestral Conducting (2008) and his Doctorate in Musical Arts (2011) from the University of Michigan. Oriol has complemented his musical studies with master classes in Spain, Austria, Germany, England, France, Canada, and the United States with Professors George Hurst, Denise Ham, Rodolfo Saglimbeni, Robert Houlihan, Salvador Mas, Jörg Bierhance, Jesús López-Cobos, David Effron, Gennady Rozhdestvensky, and Gustav Meier. He also holds a degree in Humanities from the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, and he completed graduate courses in musicology at the Autònoma of Barcelona University. Oriol was music director of the Mollerussa String Youth Orchestra, guest conductor of the La Noguera Chamber Orchestra, guest conductor of the Diputació de Tarragona Youth Symphony Orchestra, assistant conductor of the Feminine Choir of Barcelona Conservatory, and music director of the
Artists . Eurídice Choir and the Lleida University Choir. He taught at the Mollerussa School of Music and at the Lleida Conservatory, where he conducted the Lleida Conservatory Symphony Orchestra, among other ensembles. In addition, he was a faculty member at Lleida University, where he collaborated with the Aula de Música and the Musicology Laboratory. He has been assistant conductor to maestros Kenneth Kiesler, John Nelson, Jerry Blackstone, and Martin Katz with several orchestras and projects, including a production of the Damnation of Faust by Berlioz in Lisbon with the Gulbenkian Orchestra, and the Ensemble Orchestral de Paris for their concerts in the Festival de Saint-Denis and in the Théatre des Champs-Elysées. While a doctoral student, he conducted performances of two opera productions: Eugene Onegin in 2008 and The Marriage of Figaro in 2009, and in November 2011, he was appointed the music director of a production of Verdi’s Falstaff. Oriol was the music director of the University of Michigan Campus Philharmonia and Campus Symphony Orchestras from 2008 to 2010, and he currently holds the music director position of the Life Sciences Orchestra. In 2012, he was a guest conductor of the San Juan Symphony in Durango (Colorado) and the Orquesta Filarmónica de Jalisco in Guadalajara (Mexico). He also works as the score reader for the Detroit Symphony Orchestra for their webcast series. ●

Sarah Tasker violin Sarah Tasker has been busily involved in the Albuquerque music community since arriving here in 2008. She has played with the New Mexico Philharmonic, Santa Fe Symphony, Santa Fe Opera, Santa Fe Pro Musica, Opera Southwest, San Juan Symphony, Albuquerque Chamber Soloists, and The Figueroa Music and Arts Project. Mentors instrumental in shaping her musicianship were Camilla Wicks from the San Francisco Conservatory, William Preucil and Linda Cerone at the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she received her Bachelor’s degree, and Masao Kawasaki at The Juilliard School, where she was a awarded a Master’s degree in violin performance. She has taken her seat in international orchestral performances in several cities in Western Europe, England, China, and Japan. While a member of the Cleveland Institute Intensive Quartet program, her foursome was chosen to study and perform with the Tokyo String Quartet. Ms. Tasker has received honors in competitions throughout the United States and Europe and has performed many times as soloist with the Utah Symphony. In addition to playing, she enjoys teaching and trying to keep up with her two energetic little girls! ●
Kimberly Fredenburgh viola Kimberly Fredenburgh is Associate Professor of Viola at the University of New Mexico, where she teaches private viola students, classes in orchestral audition preparation, and chamber music ensembles. Ms. Fredenburgh served as assistant principal viola of the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra for ten years. She is currently the assistant principal viola of the New Mexico Philharmonic. She performs regularly with the Santa Fe Opera Orchestra and appears as principal viola with the Santa Fe Pro Musica Orchestra. For seven years she was the associate principal viola of the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra and also taught on the faculty of Arizona State University. Ms. Fredenburgh was a principal violist with the New World Symphony (Miami, FL), under Michael Tilson Thomas and has appeared in Carnegie Hall with Sir Georg Solti conducting. She has been featured as a concerto soloist with orchestras such as the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonica de Sergipe (Brazil), the New Mexico Philharmonic, and the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra. She has taught master classes and performed in recitals across the US as well as in Brazil, Mexico, Canada, Portugal, Spain, Italy, and Monaco. Ms. Fredenburgh has delivered pedagogical papers at several National ASTA conferences and also performed in recitals at the 2008 International Viola Congress and as part of the Primrose International Viola Competition. ●

Matthew Greer conductor Matthew Greer is Director of Music and Worship Ministries at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Albuquerque, where he directs several choirs and oversees a comprehensive music program. He also serves as Artistic Director for Quintessence: Choral Artists of the Southwest. At St. John’s, he founded the highly successful “Music at St. John’s” concert series, and “Thursday Evening Musicales,” an annual series of benefit concerts for Albuquerque Healthcare for the Homeless. In recent years, he has conducted performances of Mozart’s Requiem, Duruflé’s Requiem, Handel’s Messiah, and Karl Jenkins’s The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace. In addition, Greer has lectured on and conducted the music of Brahms, Bach, Copland, and Barber. In spring of 2012, he was among the recipients of Creative Albuquerque’s Bravos! Awards, honoring artistic innovation, entrepreneurship, and community impact. A native of Kansas City, Greer holds degrees in Music and Theology from Trinity University and Boston University. His teachers have included Ann Howard Jones, Daniel Moe, Jane Marshall, and Alice Parker. ●

Amy Greer piano Amy Greer is a pianist, writer, and teacher living in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She has maintained successful piano studios in New Mexico, Massachusetts, Texas, and Missouri and has been recognized for her creative approach to traditional piano teaching. Over the years, her students have been recognized with awards in performance and composition. A frequent contributor to various music publications, she has been a regular columnist for American Music Teacher. Her article entitled “Risking Aunt Rhody,” was named AMT’s “Article of the Year” in 2001. She has given workshops on issues of pedagogy, creativity, performing and practicing, and regularly coaches other musicians and teachers on such topics. Ms. Greer is an active performer, both as a soloist and in collaboration with singers and instrumentalists. She has worked as an accompanist at Dallas Baptist University, Texas Christian University, Texas Wesleyan University, and The Boston Conservatory and works regularly with faculty and students at University of New Mexico. She performs frequently with flutist Jerome Jim as part of The JimGreer Duo, and has performed with the Santa Fe Symphony and the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra. Ms. Greer holds a Master of Arts in Educational Psychology from the University of New Mexico, a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from the University of Missouri– Kansas City Conservatory of Music, and a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from the University of Missouri–Columbia. Her teachers have included Jane Allen, Joanne Baker, and William Westney. She shares her home, garden, and brightly colored studio with her husband, two cats, three betta fish, and a thousand books and plants. ●
Kristin Ditlow piano American pianist and coach Kristin Ditlow has appeared as a soloist, collaborative artist, coach, and conductor throughout the United States, Europe, and China. Recent concert seasons have featured appearances at the San Francisco Opera, Tanglewood Music Center, the Kimmel Center, Carnegie Hall, Hungary’s Zempleni Festival, the Beijing and Shanghai Conservatories, the National Theater in Kunming (Yunnan Province, China), and venues throughout central and northern Italy. As an opera and voice coach, Dr. Ditlow has served on the faculties and music staffs of the Curtis Institute of Music, Westminster Choir College, Ithaca College, Spoleto Festival USA, Opera Company of Philadelphia, Syracuse Opera, Finger Lakes Opera, San Francisco Opera Center, Delaware Valley Opera Company, the Princeton Festival, the CoOPERAtive Program (Princeton, NJ), Crescendo International Summer Institute (Tokaj and Sárospatak, Hungary), Si Parla, Si Canta (Urbania, Italy) Ameropa International Festival (Prague, Czech Republic). Dr. Ditlow’s passion for chamber music and entrepreneurial focus has led to her founding of two chamber ensembles: the Lukens Piano Trio (her current ensemble) and the Mühlenberg Piano Quartet. Dr. Ditlow is devoted to promoting new music as well as instrumental and vocal chamber music. Her innovative programming includes a variety of vocal chamber music and crossgenre projects. To this end, she is a co-creator of a house-concert series in Albuquerque, entitled Movable Sol. Dr. Ditlow holds degrees from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music (BM, 2001) Westminster Choir College (MM, 2005) and is a 2014 graduate from the Eastman School

Chancel Choir of St. John’s United Methodist Church The 80-voice Chancel Choir of St. John’s United Methodist Church sings in worship each Sunday. In recent years, the ensemble has performed works such as the Duruflé Requiem, the Mozart Requiem, and Karl Jenkins’s The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace. In 2005, the Chancel Choir traveled to New York City to perform Messiah at Carnegie Hall. They have performed with mezzo-soprano Barbara Smith Conrad and premiered works by K. Lee Scott and Bradley Ellingboe. They are directed by Matthew Greer and accompanied by Maribeth Gunning. ●
Shea Perry soprano New to the Southwest, Shea Perry is an up-and-coming soprano studying voice performance at the University of New Mexico. She holds a dual Bachelor’s degree in Voice Performance and Music Education from The Hartt School of Music in West Hartford, Connecticut. Shea has performed several roles in operas, including Strauss’s Die Fledermaus, Kurt Weill’s Street Scene, and Offenbach’s Orphée aux Enfers. Shea recently traveled to Germany to perform as a Dame in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte with Lyric Opera Studio Weimar. She will be singing the part of Lauretta in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi in April 2017 with UNM Opera Theater. Shea maintains a voice and piano studio at the New Mexico School of Music, and on Wednesdays and Sundays she can be found singing and teaching at St. John’s United Methodist Church. ●

Brent Stevens Brent Stevens is Classical 95.5 KHFM’s Program Director. You can hear him MondayFriday from 6–10 a.m. on Weekday Mornings with Brent. Brent was born and raised in Albuquerque and has been in show business since he was 11 years old. In addition to his job at Classical 95.5 KHFM, Brent is Resident Sound Designer at Fusion Theatre and a recording engineer/producer. The American Record Guide called his recording of Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony “the kind of sound big-name recording companies aim for and often miss.” Brent produces the live broadcasts of Opera Southwest heard worldwide on the web and nationwide on WFMT’s American Opera Radio Series. He has produced commercial CDs for the New Mexico Symphonic Chorus and Opera Southwest and continues to record live performances for those organizations, as well as for the New Mexico Philharmonic and Albuquerque Chamber Soloists. ●
Lisa Donald cello Lisa Donald is an Albuquerque native with a life-long passion for music. As a young person, it was something she did almost without thinking; as a youngish older person, she contemplates the ins and outs and guts and skin and bones and sweat of music and sound, and how all of those relate us to each other and ourselves and our hearts. A former teacher once said, “Never ignore an opportunity to make a beautiful gesture,” which she has taken to heart in all of life. Each moment has potential to be beautiful in its own enriching, challenging, exquisite, frustrating, strengthening, releasing, powerful way, and she feels most honest when those moments for her are expressed through music. She teaches and plays in and around Albuquerque, has a (very) small business making jewelry with instrument strings, and is raising two young daughters. She is profoundly moved that her position with the NMPhil sits her next to her longtime teacher (5th grade through high school graduation), Carla Lehmeier-Tatum. ●
