MS CHAMPION
What is the Dinner of Champions? The Dinner of Champions highlights the accomplishments of Northern Colorado residents who demonstrate a commitment to philanthropy, volunteerism and advocacy. During the evening, Hope Award and MS Champion honors are bestowed on individuals who have shown unwavering support to the Colorado-Wyoming Chapter of the National MS Society while elevating our local community.
About Multiple Sclerosis Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a disease that affects the central nervous system by disrupting the flow of information from the brain to the body. It’s an elusive disease with no known cause and no known cure. Symptoms vary from person to person depending on how the central nervous system is affected, making it hard to diagnose. Symptoms can range from numbness in the limbs, balance and mobility impairment to cognitive difficulties, paralysis, or loss of vision. The progress, severity and specific symptoms of MS are unpredictable. The Colorado-Wyoming Chapter is working diligently to find a cure while ensuring that no one has to face this disease alone.

Joseph Flanigan Joseph Flanigan was in the prime of his life working as a computer engineer when he was diagnosed with MS 26 years ago. At this time little was known about the disease and medications were not available. Joseph connected with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and because of his tenacity has helped connect many others to the MS community. Today Joseph’s involvement includes being a MS Ambassador, donating his time to speak to college students, local non-profits, schools and community partners, volunteering over 100 hours annually. In addition, Joseph volunteers and fundraises for many MS events including MuckFest, Hike MS, Bike MS and Walk MS. Joseph is a true champion.
