How did you hear about the Tour of Champions? Through the Direct Energy Bike Team What is your connection to MS? My company has sponsored a team for a few years now. I am fairly new to the company but quickly got involved with the Direct Energy Bike Team first as a rider and then as a fundraising coordinator. How did you raise $12,000 or more this year? I actually did not personally raise $12,000, but I was a fundraising coordinator for the Direct Energy Bike Team. In this role I helped raise close to $60,000. The bigger fundraising activities I helped put together included an initiative to reach out to Direct Energy vendors for financial support for the MS 150 (raised $30,000) Giving Circles (raised $13,500), which is a matching program at Direct Energy for volunteer hours completed, and an Auction for Direct Energy employees (raised $7,500). In addition to the fundraising activities I helped coordinate, I also sent out a weekly email to the Direct Energy Bike Team. The email was a great way to disseminate important information to our riders, but I also focused heavily on personal fundraising. I was able to secure gift cards as prizes for the highest fundraiser for each week

and provided fundraising tips to help our riders maximize their fundraising efforts. In 2013 Direct Energy riders raised about $750 per rider. In 2014 the average amount raised per rider jumped up to over $1,350. What other non MS rides have you participated in this year? I participated in the Baytown Gator Ride.
