Reclaim, a dining chair, adaptively repurposes an aged wine barrel. The original purpose of the material, storing wine, enhances the experience of the chair by awaking the sense of smell. The sense of smell is closely tied to a tasting experience. The tall from, at 5’-4, in combination with a set of chairs, defines the dining area through the visual experience. When seated, the back of the chairs limits visibility.

Located in Tuolemne County at the foothills of Yosemite, Pine Mountain Lake is supported by the older and adjacent communities of Groveland and Big Oak Flats. The Groveland - Big Oak Flats area is a considerable stop between the Bay Area and Yosemite National Forest. The site is located at the backyard of my parent’s property in the foothills of Yosemite. Situated awkwardly on the site, the prefabricated house holds itself as a place of shelter. The backyard has greater potential to be a place to exist along side nature. Crescent Way

Nature’s Elements: Built - Tree House Photographs
“The very essence of the lived experience is moulded by hapticity and peripheral unfocused vision. Focused vision confronts us with the world whereas peripheral vision envelops us in the flesh of the world.... Peripheral vision integrates us with space, while focused vision pushes us out of the space, making us mere spectators.” —Juhani Pallasmaa

Hanging Garden Community Center
The hanging garden is a community kitchen and garden. The center is meant to act as a social lubricant to bond the community. Two masses join to bridge the difference between the neighboring context. The intersection creates the circulation. It is open to connect the levels to one another and to the sky in order to deepen interaction. The green house unifies to the south facade through the materiality of vegetables and perforated walkways.
