All Family Day attendees must enter at Gate 14A on Portsmouth Blvd. and park in Lot 20 (I Lot) LOT 20

Effingham St. or George Washington Highway are the best routes to access NNSY for Family Day. LOT 20

Attendees will access Family Day through two pedestrian gates leaving Lot 20. Gate guards will check IDs and may conduct bag searches.

RULES REMINDER: •

Shipyard employees are responsible for the conduct and safety of their guest(s) and they must be escorted at all times.

No audiovisual recording devices, pets, drugs, alcohol, firearms, or other contraband permitted in the shipyard.

All security barriers and instructions will be honored and shipyard employees will instruct guest(s) accordingly.

Cameras or camera cell phones will be allowed at Trophy Park only. Otherwise, cameras or camera cell phones are to be left in vehicles. These devices are NOT to be stored in buildings/spaces that have cell phone lockers. Guests are permitted to visit only authorized open areas. No guests shall access any office space designated as NWA, CNIA, secure rooms/vaults or security islands. If guests are found in unauthorized spaces, it will result in a security incident. All guests must depart the shipyard NO LATER THAN 3 P.M.

Entry to the shipyard constitutes consent to search person and property.


REMEMBER: NO CAMERAS OR CAMERA PHONES PERMITTED. ESCORTS WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR SECURITY VIOLATIONS.

Attendees must check in at the security tent in front of Bldg. 1500. After checking in, proceed to the info tent to get your reserved tour time for BUSH (CVN 77). LOT 20 BLDG. 1500

ARRIVING AT FAMILY DAY: THE PROCESS When you arrive for Family Day, please enter through Gate 14A (on Portsmouth Blvd.). If you attempt to enter through any other gate, you will be turned away. All Family Day attendees must park in Lot 20 (I Lot). Attendees must proceed through one of the two access points (please see map on page 1) where guards will be checking IDs. No bags will be permitted in the CIA with the exception of those for medical necessities. These items will be subject to search. Once you are on the installation, please proceed to the security check in tent in front of Bldg. 1500 (please see map above) to verify your registration. Once you have checked in, don’t forget to visit the information booth. The information booth will have maps of the event, and this is also where you will receive your designated time to tour the aircraft carrier. Current shipyard employees who are permitted to access the industrial area must enter through Gate N behind Bldg. 1500 (please see map on next page). Escorts: please have your NAVSEA badge ready to show security personnel. Please feel free to take your time and enjoy the parade field - there are many fun activities planned throughout the day.

Stop by one of the CMWR concession stands to purchase a snack. Menu items include smoked turkey legs, hot dogs, chili dogs, italian sausage, chili, french fries, chili and cheese fries, assorted beverages, cakes, cookies, and funnel cake. There will also be a meal deal offered from 2 pieces of white or dark meat fried chicken, with a biscuit and one side.

SHUTTLE BUSES Limited shuttle service will be available to and from Trophy Park and within the industrial area. Be patient - wait times may vary.

NEED HELP? If you need anything during your visit to America’s Shipyard, please find a volunteer wearing a yellow vest. In the event of an emergency, please find a phone and dial 396-3333 or 911.

VISIT TROPHY PARK Quarters A and Quarters B will be open for tours. The historic Tar House Museum will be open. Try your hand at the scavenger hunt! Everyone who finds all the correct answers will be entered to win a prize package!

TOURING THE AIRCRAFT CARRIER

CVN 77 tours will be provided on a first come, first served basis. All visitors must visit the Security and Registration table to receive wristbands to enter the industrial area and a sticker identifying your assigned tour time. Tours will be available for the following times: •

9:45 a.m.

12:15 p.m.

10:15 a.m.

12:45 p.m.

10:45 a.m.

1:15 p.m.

11:15 a.m.

1:45 p.m.

11:45 a.m.

Tours will begin at the aft brow at the head of Dry Dock 8. Visitors will be checked in to verify proper tour times. Spaces are limited, so please arrive prompty for your scheduled tour.

Children must be 12 years of age or older to tour the aircraft carrier.

Visitors must be dressed appropriately. Please wear closed toed shoes and long pants. Skirts, dresses, open toed shoes or high heels are not practical and are not permitted.

Visitors must be able to climb up and down stairways.

Visitors will be taken up to the flight deck.

Cameras or camera phones are not permitted aboard the aircraft carrier. Escorts will be held responsible for security violations. Bush Sailors will be taking photos of guests.

Please stay on the designated route. Follow all signs and verbal directions from your tour guides. Respect instructions given by volunteers and Sailors.


FAMILY DAY FAQS MAKE SURE YOU’RE PREPARED

When is Family Day? Family Day is Saturday, November 2, 2019 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Can I bring a backpack? No bags will be permitted into the CIA with the exception of medical neccessities which will be subject to search.

What gate should I use? Where should I park? Gate 14A (Lot 20 gate) on Portsmouth Blvd. will be open for Family Day traffic. All Family Day attendees must park in Lot 20 in front of Bldg. 1500. Lot 1 at the north end will be open for overflow.

I’m a foreign national. Can I attend Family Day? Foreign nationals with an escort may attend Family Day activities both outside and inside the industrial area as long as the proper registration form has been submitted. Foreign nationals may NOT tour the aircraft carrier.

How many guests can I bring to Family Day? Shipyard employees may escort up to seven guests, no exceptions. Retirees may not act as escorts for any guests. All attendees must complete the registration forms prior to Family Day.

I’m a retiree. Can I attend Family Day? Retirees may attend Family Day but they may not access the CIA without a shipyard employee as an escort.

Can I bring my camera or smart phone? Cameras or camera cell phones are NOT ALLOWED in the industrial area or in any NAVSEA work spaces. In addition, personal photography will not be permitted on the grounds except for Trophy Park. Photographers will be in attendance for the entirety of the event and photos will be shared via the NNSY Facebook page. All guests brought into the shipyard are the responsibility of their escort, the shipyard employee. If anyone is found to be in possession of a camera/camera phone in the industrial area or in a NAVSEA workspace, the sponsor will be subject to a security incident report and disciplinary actions. Leave your cameras and smart phones in your vehicle. STORAGE LOCKERS will not be provided. What should I wear? Please dress practically and comfortably in closed toed shoes. In the event of sunny weather, please bring sunscreen and bottled water. Please remember, you may be walking for long periods of time to and from various Family Day events. What do I need to bring with me to attend Family Day? Shipyard employees must display their CAC and NAVSEA badge. Do I need to check in somewhere on Family Day? The shipyard Security Department will have registration stations set up to check in escorts and guests and provide wrist bands to all attendees.

Will there be shuttles for the event? Yes, shuttles will be running from Bldg. 1500 to Trophy Park outside the CIA. Will my family and I be able to tour the CIA or the aircraft carrier? Yes, shipyard employees and their registered guests will be able to tour approved areas in the CIA and USS George H.W. Bush. All guests must be six years old or older to enter the CIA. You will be provided a designated time slot to tour USS George H.W. Bush on a first-come, first-served basis when you receive your wrist band at registration. A limited number of time slots will be available. If you miss your time slot, you will not be able to tour Bush. Children must be age 12 or older to tour Bush. Will food be provided? Concessions provided by CMWR will be available for purchase on the parade field in front of Bldg. 1500 and at Trophy Park. Will Family Day be rescheduled if there is bad weather? No, Family Day will be held rain or shine. There is no rain date for Family Day.
