armed forces blood drive NNSY will be hosting its next Armed Services Blood Drive Aug. 16 in front of Bldg. 1500 from 8 a.m. to noon. Visit militaryblood. dod.mil to schedule an appointment. All NNSY employees are invited to participate in the campaign by bringing non-perishable food items and placing them into the designated collection boxes which will be taken directly to a local food bank weekly. Box locations include Bldg. 1500, 1618, 1575 and 1585 in the main lobby areas. Congratulations to Code 105 for winning the OPSEC Award for the second quarter of 2017. The department was presented the award by Capt. Brown July 5. “The Code 105 OPSEC Coordinator Mariellen Champion has only had the position a little more than five months and has made a huge impact,” said OPSEC Manager Ernest Fentress.

The training will focus on retirement eligibility, retirement annuity computation, health insurance after retirement, life insurance after retirement, Thrift Savings Plan after retirement and the retirement process. The intended audience for this course is supervisors and managers who have the responsibility of writing Position Descriptions. You must RSVP for this class by emailing the FLTHRO training office at FLTHRO_Training@navy.mil. August 30 - 9 to 11 a.m. Informal Lunch and Learns - In an effort to provide NNSY employees information and education on beneficial Human Resources topics, FLTHRO will host informal “Lunch and Learn” training sessions throughout 2017. Bring your lunch, we’ll provide the education! All NNSY employees are welcome and encouraged to attend these informal sessions. FLTHRO has seating for 33 employees, and attendance is on a first-come, first-served basis. No reservation required. Navigating USAJobs - Sept. 20 - 11:20 a.m. to Noon Resume Writing - Aug. 16, and Oct. 18 - 11:20 a.m. to 12 p.m. All courses and events are located at Bldg. 15, McKeever Street, 2nd Floor in the Training Center, Room 223. Participants are encouraged to use the shuttle service as parking at FLTHRO is limited. If you have questions you may contact Germaine Harris at (757) 396-2100. Requests received after the deadline will be processed at the end of the curtailment period beginning Jan. 3, 2018, on a first-in first-out basis. M-32 (i.e. LO101 Workshop, Yellow Belt Training, etc.) will be provided in temporary modulars beside the base gym (titled “M32- Modulars”). Please check with your training POC or the program administrator for additional information.

Brig modular The Brig Modular Trailer located behind Bldg. 1500 is now open for business. Food will be served between the hours of 5:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
