How does water get to your faucet?
your water comes from a reservoir. It is stored there and made pure and clean. The water in the reservoir is collected from rivers and brooks, from rain and snow.
Pipes run under the street to carry it to you.
As long as the level in the reservoir remains high,
it can run right to your house without any help, because water can climb back to the height where it started.
your water may come from your own well or private storage place, which was dug deep in the earth to reach the level of water, much deeper than a water reservoir.
A pump is needed to push the water into pipes to travel upward into your house.
