who I am now. The way I see hand painted signs on the street, the wood work on abandoned buildings, the way I fold my socks, the click in my knee, all lessons taken and moved forward. That saying has stuck with me all through my life and it’s rough lessons. Whatever you’re doing, in any degree, is always moving your forward to become who you are. Take what you learn and press on.

with skin care products. Simpson is a widely used racing helmet (the only helmet used in nascar) and is known for being the safest helmet you can buy. Therefore all of the products that are sold in the line are protection products i.e. mechanics hand cream, sun block, etc. The bottle shapes reflect the angular form of the helmet and keeping the traditional black, red, and white color scheme. The numbering system element is based on racers identification number plates to distinguish themselves on the track and in turn works to easily distinguish product easier for a wary male audience. The disk brake rotor display also is a big cue to the consumer showing them visually without words that it is indeed an automotive product is adapting to new field in skin care.

However, the picture was changing. Edwin Hubble was discovering other galaxies, and found that the farther away they were, the more the light from them was shifted towards the red end of the spectrum, indicating that they were moving away and the universe was therefore expanding. And physicists like Alexander Friedmann and George Lemaître and others had uncovered Einstein’s apparent mistake. In 1965, two Bell Laboratory scientists, Arno Penzias and Robert Wilson, while trying to eliminate radio interference, discovered cosmic background microwave radiation left over from the big bang. Now we are faced with a universe so big and so old that it defies our imaginations to grasp it. It appears to have begun 15 billion years ago. Our galaxy, alone, has some 100 billion stars, and it is just one of perhaps a 100 billion galaxies, and this immense universe is expanding at an ever increasing rate.

The words "We are ALL One" have reverberated through the hearts and minds of Humanity in one form or another since the beginning of time. They do not express a lofty platitude or a sweet cliché even though our lower human egos have often perceived them as such. They profess a profound Truth. Never, since we were first breathed into manifestation from the Heart of our Father-Mother God as individualized Sons and Daughters of God, has it been more imperative that we grasp the full magnitude of that profound Truth.

( A L B E RT E I N S TE I N , 1954)

word, action or feeling we have changes the dynamics of the whole Universe. At any given moment, depending on our frame of mind, we are either adding to the Light of the World or adding to the shadows. How is that for an awesome responsibility? As the Light of God flows into the physical plane, It pierces the Core of Purity in every particle of life and activates the original Divine Blueprint. No matter how distorted or mutated a life-form is, it still has the original Spark of Divinity which contains the Immaculate Concept of its Divine Potential blazing in its Core of Purity, or it couldn't survive.

Daily and hourly, we witness myriad atrocities appearing on the screen of life. It seems as though in every conceivable corner of the World people are inflicting pain, suffering, injustice and even death on their fellow Human Beings. The ONLY way that behavior could possibly make sense or be justified in anyone's mind is through their ignorance of the profound Truth that we are all One.

Likewise, within every negative manifestation on Earth the original Divine Potential of that life-form still pulsates. Within every electron manifesting as poverty still pulsates the potential of God's Limitless Abundance; within every electron of disease still pulsates the potential for vibrant health; within every electron of war still pulsates the potential of Eternal Peace; within every electron of hate still pulsates the potential of Divine Love.

To inflict harm on another Human Being is totally and completely ludicrous in the face of that Truth. It is self-destructive and suicidal. It is unconscionable and uncivilized.

We as Human Beings need each other to survive on this Planet. We must recognize that we are all in this together. Instead of functioning out of fear and hatred we need to learn about each other and revel in the wonder and beauty of our unique diversities.

During this unprecedented moment of accelerated Light on Earth this problem seems as though it is being exacerbated. This is occurring for a very specific reason. Let's go within and look at the bigger picture for a moment to get a clearer perspective of what is happening on Earth. Ask the Presence of God pulsating as the Divinity in your Heart to take full command of your conscious mind. Allow these words to awaken within you the Inner Knowing and the remembrance of your Oneness with ALL life. What we call "God" is the Omnipotent, Omniscient, Omnipresent and all-encompassing luminous Presence of Divinity that envelopes ALL life everywhere. This includes every minute electron, atom and subatomic particle of life evolving in any time frame or dimension, known or unknown, throughout infinity. What that means, both literally and tangibly, is that everything that exists anywhere in the whole of Creation is a "cell" in the Body of God. Knowing that, we can then understand that all lifeforms pulsate as ONE unified force field in the Body of God. Therefore, what affects one part of life affects the rest of life. What affects one "cell" has an affect on the rest of the "cells." This is the reality of our Oneness. Every single thing we do affects the whole Body of God. Every thought,

Thousands of people have been complaining for decades that our train system is deteriorating; our cities are disorganized jumbles of ugly buildings; and our school system is pathetic. But the majority of people don’t do anything about these problems. Instead, they focus their attention on their income level and the upcoming television shows. The same is true with the Oklahoma City bombing that Tim McVeigh was accused of doing. Where are all the people who care about that “Fertilizer Bomb From Hell”? General Ben Partin, one of the military’s experts on explosives, made a graph to show the pressure gradient from Tim McVeigh’s fertilizer bomb. Partin shows that it is impossible for such a small bomb to do the damage. Furthermore, the damage had non-symmetrical aspects to fertilizer bomb. Partin that it is im fertilizer bomb. Partin shows that it is im it, which is impossible to explain from a bomb that explodes in the street. This outspoken dissident, social activist, and Thai Buddhist monk speaks about why we need to go beyond traditional religious structures. He emphasizes that while religions can powerfully lead to a personal relief and release, what we need now is a deeper and more complex view that takes into account the interdependent factors that create inequity and suffering in our 21st century world. 

Have you ever held two magnets, one in each hand, and then as you move them closer and closer, they attract each other and eventually stick together? That's the same kind of thing. These atoms are attracted electrically or magnetically to each other. Now, when energy is passed from one atom to another, these atoms trade electrons back and forth, changing their chemical bonds as needed to form new substances. That's what happens when you flick the blanket, or think a thought. You are causing some electrons to grab other atoms, or causing some electrons to let go of their bonds and grab different atoms. That's called a chemical reaction, in some cases, and in others it's simply an exchange of energy.

This was a very simple example, there are many more different kinds of atoms, and they combine to form everything we see and know of in our universe. These are the building blocks of everything we see around us, and we are connected to everything around us through these bonds. You are standing in a room. You are surrounded on every side by air. It is touching your body on every surface it can reach. The electrons of the air are interacting with the electrons of your body. Now, that air is also reaching to the other side of the room and is also touching the table, the wall, other people in the room, animals, etc. So we are at every moment connected to everything else that exists, both physically and spiritually.

Every religious tradition has its negative elements, which we must not ignore. But the positive element in every religious tradition is tremendous. It deals with the mystery of life. It deals with transcendental. We need that transcendental element.

Many people who proudly boast that they don’t believe in conspiracies also tell me something like, “tIf the September 11th attack was a scam, people would do something about it.” Well, people are trying to do something. There are thousands of us talking about it and trying to help the nation. But all of us are laughed at or ignored for being “conspiracy nuts”. There’s a widespread attitude that people care and that people would do something. But most people don’t care about the world’s problems. Rather, most people care only about their own kind of personal problems.

The noted scientific cosmologist, P. James E. Peebles, summed up the current state of this field by saying that at its heart is the solidly established big bang theory. But Peebles immediately cautioned, "That the universe is expanding and cooling is the essence of the big bang theory. You will notice I have said nothing about an "explosion" – the big bang theory describes how our universe is evolving, not how it began."1 To the big bang, he tells us, scientists are trying to add the theory of inflation, that is, that early in its life the universe expanded rapidly. There is also strong evidence that most of the mass of the universe cannot be accounted for by the things we see, but there must be some sort of unknown dark matter. Further, it appears that something, some dark energy or quintessence, is making it part of the universe and accelerate.

THINK ABOUT SELF

It is remarkable not only how quickly this field is changing today, but how our picture of the universe has been transformed in less than a century. When Einstein was writing his theory of general relativity in 1916 the prevailing feeling that the universe was static was so strong that when his equations indicated that the universe should be expanding, or contracting, he introduced a cosmological constant to produce a universe at rest. Not only was there a consensus that the universe was static, but it was also equated with our own galaxy

You don’t have to judge others, just see yourself, because it is for your own good. If somebody is egoistical makes no difference to you. Or non-egoistical makes no difference; only thing is you should really see for yourself what is good and what is bad. That’s how it works out. Otherwise, I as always say that when I give a lecture immediately we start thinking about somebody whom we think to be egoistical. Actually I’m saying to each one of you to see it, would be a better idea.

Now this ego when it covers your entire head, the complete Sahasrara which is shown there – the white area gets covered; your Brahmarandra, the portion from where the kundalini has to pierce also gets covered. It’s very difficult the whole thing is covered, and this is small here, the gap is here, now, you cannot open the gap here, you have to open the gap here. So this has to go back like that, and this has to come up in the center like that. Then only kundalini can come up. So what happens at such stage, you will find such people have a left hand very weak and right hand throbbing. So you raise their left, put to the right; again raise their left put to the right, again raise their left put to the right, so you bring down the ego like this. And once the ego comes down then this comes up and the gap comes in between and then you raise the kundalini in the center.

We are something different now, now we have become the Self, the Atma and when we have become the Atma, then, we are one with that Universal Being, and He is making us do everything. Like my fingers don’t have ego that “I’m doing something and I’m touching the thumb”, because it is a part of this body. Our nose does not have an ego, that, it is something special which is breathing. We say “I breath”, we don’t say “This nose breathes”, neither the nose would say “this mouth…” with which we eat food, it never says that “I eat, because of my mouth”. When you become one with that whole then you just feel that the whole is working and we as part, are working with it, and all the responsibilities are finished.

YO U H AVE A N EFFECT The four chapters of this book are like four interconnected experiments carried out with the intention of discovering whether Christians can still believe today. Christians believe in a personal and loving God who created the universe. Have the discoveries of modern scientific cosmology undercut or eliminated the rational foundations for this belief? The noted scientific cosmologist, p. James e. peebles, summed up the current state of this field by saying that at its heart is the solidly established big bang theory. takes on the properties of a spatial direction. Just as there is no edge to space, there is no identifiable beginning to time." Hawking writes elsewhere: "the quantum theory of gravity has opened up a new possibility, in which there would be no boundary to space-time and so there would be no need to specify the behavior at the boundary. There would be no singularities at which the laws of science broke down and no edge of space-time at which one would have to appeal to God or some new law to set the boundary conditions for space-time. One could say: "The boundary condition of the universe is that it has no boundary." The universe would be completely self-contained and not affected by anything outside itself. It would neither be created nor destroyed. It would just Be."

“ Yo u n e ve r k n ow w h o s e l i f e Yo u a r e a f f e c t i n g , b i g o r s m a l l”

And a little later he adds: "So long as the universe had a beginning, we could suppose it had a creator. But if the universe is really completely self-contained, having no boundary or edge, it would have neither beginning nor end: it would simply be. what place, then, for a creator?"

Not only was there a consensus that the universe was static, but it was also equated with our own galaxy.

The Russian cosmologist, Alexander Vilenkin, now at Tufts university, has his own version of the beginning based on the aspect of quantum mechanics in which a particle can appear and disappear in a vacuum like outer space. An account of this theory which appeared in Discover magazine gives us the flavor of how these theories of the beginning of the universe are reported in the popular scientific press not only uncritically, but with a certain sense of awe.

By 1929, however, the picture was changing. edwin Hubble was discovering other galaxies, and found that the farther away they were, the more the light from them was shifted towards the red end of the spectrum, indicating that they were moving away and the universe was therefore expanding.

Since relativity appears to break down as we approach the beginning of the universe, scientific cosmologists have turned to the other great pillar of modern physics, quantum theory, in order to overcome this limitation, and to create a quantum cosmology that can answer the question of the origin of the universe. Let’s try to get a general sense of this quantum cosmology, not in the scientific particulars of this or that theory, but rather, how scientists present these theories with philosophical and religious overtones. In 1983, James Hartle and Stephen Hawking proposed that a cosmic wave function be applied to the entire universe similar to the wave function that quantum mechanics had applied to elementary particles. "According to this approach, the usual distinction between future and past breaks down in the very early universe; the time direction °°°°

This is an awe-inspiring picture, but what does it say about the origin of the universe? Let’s imagine that the scientific cosmologists have been creating an ever more detailed and vivid movie of the structure and movement of the universe, and this film, when it is played backwards, makes the universe appear as if it is coming together and beginning in an intensely hot and dense state. But the real question is whether this movie takes us back to the absolute beginning, or very origin of the universe. It doesn’t appear to do so because the basic laws of nature, as described by einstein’s relativity, break down as we approach this beginning. It is as if the film runs out and just before we reach the beginning we are dazzled with a blinding white light. And we are faced with the very difficult question: can science find a way to talk about the very beginning of the universe, or is this simply outside its scope? The scientists, themselves, are divided about the matter. The physicist Charles Townes writes: "I do not understand how the scientific approach alone, as separated from a religious approach, can explain an origin of all things. It is true that physicists hope to look behind the ‘big bang,’ and possibly to explain the origin of our universe as, for example, a type of fluctuation. But then, of what is it a fluctuation and how did this in turn begin to exist? In my view, the question of origin seems always left unanswered if we explore from a scientific view alone."2 But other scientists are less reluctant to put science to the task and to try to develop a scientific theory of the beginning of the universe. Let’s look at some of these attempts.

The breif was to take a mass market brand and elevate it into a higher price point. Flogers has been around since 1872 making coffee in San Francisco since the

MURMURS IN THE ROARING TWENTIES ni s e gchtl rety pa m usrsm wuor r sd

Speakeasy is a micro-brewery in San Francisco that distributes keg beer, bottles, and six-pack beer. The reoccurring theme that is played throughout the companies identity is based on the 1920’s prohibition age where gangers and mob bosses ruled the liquor market. Nightly runs were made in dark allies where only secret passwords could get you in to a lavish drunken parties otherwise you were left dry as a bone.

ARMY OF LABELS UNDER ONE HOUSE b ran d in g a ho u s e

What if Target wanted to compete with Williams-Sonoma and Crate & Barrel? Target is fairly big but when it comes to items that are more luxurious you typically wouldn’t shop at Target. For Michael Osbourne’s class we were presented with a group project to brand a store that would compete with Williams-Sonoma and Crate & Barrel but also keeping “Target Smarts.” The design strategy was to create a branded house and a house of brands to suit different lifestyles and cater to the individual consumer.

WORLDLY CAKES COME IN FLAVORS

\

Cake mix comes in a variety of flavors but it seems all that is visible to the eye is chocolate and vanilla. When we were thinking about how to improve the look of

F O R W A R D I Z A T I O N ˚

cake we decided to put the actual cake shape on the shelf and give it a personality. Multiple flavors with various colors from around the world also are a bonus for the packaging to stand out on the shelf.

There are many cakes around the world and the word “cake” is very bland in appearance. So instead of cake being dominant on the package it’s a type of cake from the country of origin.

ENGINEERED FOR OVER 500 YEARS

0

Fishing is all in the tradition. Growing up you are taught by your peers how to bait your hook, cast, and reel in a fish. Since 1856 Orvis has been deep in the tradition of

F O R W A R D I Z A T I O N ˚

fly fishing therefore their knowledge is vast and deep. The Sioux Indian tribe is one of the oldest fishing tribes in North America so therefore the name was perfect for a sub-brand of Orvis. Sioux has a focus on precisely engineered products without loosing the tradition of fishing.

THANK YOU Thanks Mom and Dad for helping me through school and life. Thanks Erin for being

there when I needed you, It really means a lot. Thanks Kristen for being my personal chauffeur/photo studio/stressful friend. Thanks to all of my friends back home and

in San Francisco for trying to peer pressure me into not doing my work, I won (no

but really thanks for being my friends you’re all rad.) Thank you mopeds for getting me to and from school as well as making friends around the world. Thanks to all of my instructors: Mary Scott for taking the time to remember me, Roland Young for

being f*cking nuts, Michael Osbourne for being down to earth and awesome, Tom McNulty for showing me the way of design, Paul Kagiwada for making me finally like

packaging, Christine George for introducing me into the love of packaging, Megan

Aide for teaching me letterpress, Macy Chadwick for showing me the magic of books, and United*dsn for showing me the ropes of being a designer in the real world. Last but not least thank you for taking the time to look at my portfolio that i’ve spent many months working on.
