OUR STORY
Working in the recreation market made us realize that people don’t just take their little ones to the park… but they bring their fur babies too! Dogs are awesome and they play such a vital role in the family unit, so why shouldn’t they have their own dedicated park?!
And so, BarkPark was born. We have taken the time to study not just dog behavior in the park but the community it builds when introduced.

Dog ownership continues to rise year over year and the demand for dog-friendly recreation areas is top of mind for cities, parks and multi-family housing communities. The Unleashed guidebook helps communities effectively advocate for the many benefits of off-leash dog parks. Dog parks create community destinations by providing enjoyable ways to recreate for both dog owners and their dogs.
Developed by BarkPark’s parent company, PlayCore, Unleashed shows there are many positive effects for individuals that own a dog(s); as well as healthy and social benefits of owning and caring for a dog, and recreating outdoors with pets.
The Unleashed guidebook provides research and best practices to effectively design a dog park and champion initiatives that provide meaningful outcomes supporting overall health and social benefits for the community.

It is important to have separate areas for large and small dogs in dog parks for the safety of both groups. Smaller dogs are more susceptible to injury or intimidation by larger dogs, and having separate areas enables both groups to play and exercise more confidently.
