SUMMER 2018

WELCOME! Our campers return to Nobles Day Camp (NDC) year after year. Many begin in the Owls Nest and continue at NDC all the way through our teen program. What creates that excitement and loyalty? We think it comes from parents seeing their children learn new skills, play outside and gain confidence. Parents also know that we keep kids safe, and we care about each and every camper every day. Why do the campers want to return? It’s simple, really: great friends and fun. From the vision of our founders, Mr. Wise and Mr. Bird, in 1948 to our current emphasis on 21st century skills, NDC’s roots in tradition and passion for innovative fun make sure all our owls, big and small, soar. We hope you’ll join the tradition of NDC and learn more about our seasoned staff, our incredible facilities and our program that makes every summer special. NOBLESDAYCAMP.ORG

“ My family has had a child at Nobles Day Camp for eight years now and the consistency and quality of the camp experience never disappoints!”

THE OWLS NEST is an exciting and engaging introduction to camp, providing a wide range of creative activities in a safe and nurturing environment. The varied activities are designed to encourage a camper’s social, artistic and physical development in ways that are fun and exciting and will keep them engaged throughout the day. Owls Nest campers are placed in age appropriate groups known as nests. Each nest has a maximum of 12-16 campers and 3–4 counselors (a counselor/camper ratio of 1:4). Campers are grouped by the year they will enter kindergarten and with awareness of their social, emotional and developmental stage. See our website for age and placement. All campers must be toilet trained prior to the start of camp. NOBLESDAYCAMP.ORG

Campers will travel with their nest from the main building to participate in activities in other areas of our campus. Owls K campers will have one block each day that includes choosing activities. This program is designed to keep campers excited, active and challenged throughout their day.

OWLS NEST SWIMMING PROGRAM Each nest is scheduled to swim twice a day. Campers have a morning and afternoon swim (one instructional; one free swim). Certified swimming instructors work with each child, based on their ability, to develop their individual swimming skills. Campers are divided into small groups to provide a teaching ratio often as small as 1:5. Group counselors also provide assistance in the water. NOBLESDAYCAMP.ORG

1ST THROUGH 7TH GRADE NOBLES DAY CAMP is all about choices. We believe that campers choosing their own activities helps with their personal growth, encouraging them to try new things and develop decision-making skills. Every day, campers join coed groups of children entering the same grade next fall. Each hour, campers choose which activity among a selection of three or four age appropriate options that they would like to try. 7th graders travel out of camp once per week. Although counselors encourage children to try new activities, the final decision rests with the camper.

SWIM PROGRAM Each group is scheduled to swim twice a day. Campers have a morning and afternoon swim (one instructional; one free swim). Campers in 1st through 7th grade receive American Red Cross swimming instruction. To determine their swimming ability, campers are tested and placed in the appropriate level.

“ A life changing summer for our son! He tried so many new activities, thanked us every single day for sending him! What an amazing summer he had!

Recognizing our older elementary and middle school campers want more challenges, we offer them new and exciting options available only to them, alongside many of the tried and true activities at more advanced levels. NOBLESDAYCAMP.ORG

8TH AND 9TH GRADE

AS OUR CAMPERS MATURE, our programs offer more opportunities to increase personal growth, social development and leadership skills. Campers earn the privilege of traveling, based on their behavior with both peers and staff, in and out of camp. Expectations increase with each age level as more freedom and responsibility is placed on the campers. NOBLESDAYCAMP.ORG

FIELD TRIPS Trips balance the many exciting on-campus Nobles activity choices around their trip schedules. Our 8th and 9th graders travel out of camp at least twice a week. Safety is our main concern, so each group travels in a school or activity bus under close supervision of their group counselors. NOBLESDAYCAMP.ORG
