n’t have been better. Jackson seemed to come alive after the spring rains subsided, and I managed to sample everything it has to offer before the masses migrated into town.
Cody Peak, sidestepped out of Granite, and hiked the Paintbrush Divide with some of you, my newest feat was realized or the start of the annual Jackson Hole Wine Auction. While tasting bites from area restaurants and sipping whites, reds, al vintners, the event was gorgeous and a must-do for those joining us in June 2016. The views were spectacular; the more impressive, however, was learning that I have a secret skill in hatchet throwing. Dress, heels, and a left-handed toss ause and a blush of pride. Corey Milligan, owner of Mountain Man Toy Shop and creator of New West Knifeworks, a store ce Cream on the Square, has a stump mounted behind his shop, so I encourage you too to channel your inner mountain man and try your hand at hatchet throwing the next time you are in town.
I found myself chasing down the rapids on the Snake River. A friend’s boat guided us through the splash of Kahuna, and epic and slow slip out of the boat. The laughs kept and keep coming, and sunglasses, hat, and flip flops all stayed on!
brought me up a few switchbacks, over a few gentle boulders, and to Delta Lake. It is only slightly off the beaten track-ne Meadows trailhead—but, your trail divergence is marked with a faded, spray-painted rock, and cairns guide you to the d mileage markers. The lake is Caribbean green and The Grand sits majestically and prominently at the base of the lake. Delta Lake has most certainly topped my list as best places to enjoy a PB&J.

Introducing It is with great pleasure that we welcome Will Farrow as Hotel Terra’s new Hotel Manager. I have had the joy of working with Will off an on for the past 12 years through the Four Seasons and Teton Mountain Lodge, all along knowing his goal of one day being at the helm of Hotel Terra. His love of Jackson is apparent in every conversation, and this enthusiasm and energy will undoubtedly translate from our employees to our guests and to your homes. On his days off, Will challenges himself to hike the Crest Trail, discover the backcountry (no small feat for a snowboarder), and explore new mountain bike trails. He looks forward to meeting each of you, and enhancing the service and caretaking standards for your homes.
#7 IN THE U.S.
Hot off the Press Travel + Leisure’s Annual Top 10 List has a spot (for the second year in a row) on its ‘Top 10 Resorts in the U.S.’ list for Hotel Terra! Lucky number 7 in fact. Even Letterman’s top 10 lists didn’t make us smile this brightly. Additionally, the Jackson campus is reaching out to lucrative and previously untapped markets, as LGBT travel becomes more preeminent. Instinct Magazine includes Terra, Chill Spa, and Osteria in its 4 page Jackson Hole feature that reaches almost 150,000 people. Please see a lovely write-up in the local paper, Jackson Hole News and Guide, about the sale of Terra and Rob DesLauriers’ pioneering vision for Teton Village.
Airlift It is easier than ever to land in Jackson. This winter seats will increase by 15%. This includes daily Newark direct flights February 6 – April 3, which doubles last year’s offerings, and Delta will have weekly JFK flights February – April 26. American will fly from Chicago and LA. LA continues to be an emerging market with all 3 carriers—Delta, American, and United—delivering direct flights.
Marketing & Pace Word got out apparently: Jackson is the place to be in June! Our Private Residence Collection had a 57% occupancy for the month of June, which is almost double what we had anticipated. We continue to increase our average nightly rate, and we are looking strong for our summer season. Our current strategy is to continue to push our leisure sales manager to develop relationships with luxury online travel agents and thereby open up new channels. With the new photography layered into our website as well as VRBO listings, we have also seen VRBO inquiries increase 63% compared with the same time last year, and our website continues to capture new viewers with June showing a 9% increase. Our marketing team, now coupled with Noble House Hotels, continues to mine our data, creating greater knowledge of our Private Residence Collection audience. They hail predominately from California, but Texas and Florida are also key states for our consumer. We will continue to target summer guests with our on-site content and blogs in order to drive additional website visits and reservations to the Private Residence Collection. Next up: In our drive to deliver increased occupancy and revenues: our marketing team is turning some of its attention to fall. We will roll out fall packages (such as Wine and Unwind) in the coming weeks to entice September and October business.
Owner Spotlight We wanted to share with you a friend and daughter of owners at Teton Mountain Lodge, Ashleigh Scully: a visionary conservation photographer at just 13 years old. Ashleigh’s love of wildlife coupled with her tremendous and growing talent for photography have built her an impressive resume, which includes National Geographic Kids Online and a Wildlife Photographer of the Year award. Ashleigh charms us by naming Jackson as her most beloved place to photograph, so watch for her on the heels of Mangelsen & Holdsworth, and read more about her here: http://www.mnn.com/earth-matters/animals/stories/13year-old-conservation-photographer-changing-minds-oneanimal-photo-at-time
The Holidays in Jackson Hole The holidays are filling up. Please book by August 1 if you plan to join us over the 2015 Holiday Season. Also, mark your calendars for December 19th: the official JHMR 50th Birthday Party!
Jackson Hole’s 50th Anniversary The evolution of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort was kick-started in the early 1960’s by the passionate dream of its founders, Paul McCollister and Alex Morley. From humble and rugged beginnings, this dream was fully realized decades later with the ingenuity of a family with historic ties to the Cowboy State. In their tenure of ownership since 1992, the Kemmerer family has invested greatly in the prosperity of Jackson Hole and the state of Wyoming. With vast improvements to operations, lifts and infrastructure, they have ushered Jackson Hole Mountain Resort into its present-day luster and world-wide iconic status as “The Big One.”
