A Letter from Caitlin

I am thrilled to be sharing with you our updated “flipbook” owner newsletter. Partnering with the marketing team at certainly has its perks, and I hope you enjoy the new format.

Spring in the Tetons couldn’t have been better. Jackson seemed to come alive after the spring rains subsided, and sample everything it has to offer before the masses migrated into town.

While I have blazed down Cody Peak, sidestepped out of Granite, and hiked the Paintbrush Divide with some of yo feat was realized at the top of the gondola for the start of the annual Jackson Hole Wine Auction. Centered around tasting bites from area restaurants while sipping whites, reds, and bubbles from national vintners, the event perche Gondola and offers gorgeous view and a new must-do for those joining us in June 2016. The views were spectacul cooperated; but, more impressive, however, was learning that I have a secret skill in hatchet throwing. Dress, hee handed toss landed me a wave of applause and a blush of pride. Corey Milligan, owner of Mountain Man Toy Sho of New West Knifeworks, a store kitty-corner from Moo’s Ice Cream on the Square, has a stump mounted behind encourage you too to channel your inner mountain man and try your hand at hatchet throwing the next time you

My latest exploration brought me up a few switchbacks, over a few gentle boulders, and to Delta Lake. It is only s beaten track--the trail begins at the Lupine Meadows trailhead—but, your trail divergence is marked with a faded, rock, and cairns guide you to the lake in lieu of trail signs and mileage markers. The lake is Caribbean green and T majestically and prominently at the base of the lake. Delta Lake has most certainly topped my list as best place well-deserved PB&J.

Hot off the Press The Jackson campus has begun proactive sales outreach to lucrative and previously untapped markets, as LGBT travel becomes more preeminent. Instinct Magazine includes Teton Mountain Lodge and Spur in its 4 page Jackson Hole feature that reaches almost 150,000 people.

!

Please see a lovely write-up in the local paper, Jackson Hole News and Guide, about the sale of the Lodge and Rob DesLauriers’ pioneering vision for Teton Village. Lastly, on a whimsical note, FabFitFun! An online magazine with 400K circulation, this aticle showcased nail tips from Solitude Spa’s nail technician, Cat, on maintaining the perfect pedicure, and then reached an additional 230K people through a Facebook Post.

Airlift It is easier than ever to land in Jackson. This winter seats will increase by 15%. This includes daily Newark direct flights February 6 – April 3rd, which doubles last year’s offerings, and Delta will have weekly JFK flights February – April 26th. American will fly from Chicago & LA. LA continues to be an emerging market with all 3 carriers – Delta, American, & United—delivering direct flights.

Q2 in Review It has been awhile since we have had an elongated summer season, but with the June that we had—up a tick in leisure business at 12% and increasing 15% year over year in group business—summer is officially 4 months long, and June is yet again a significant factor in summer business volume. Our hats tip to Erik Dombroski, our new Director of Sales, as well as the lodging tax’s funds targeting off-season marketing efforts.

Q3 Pace We are pushing rate this summer, and occupancy levels are holding—if not following suit, such as the month of August, which is pacing 17% up for rate and 20% up in occupancy. September is showing a strong transient guest pace, but we are still optimistic that group business will show additional growth for this month. On the whole, the summer season at the Lodge is looking at a pace of 20% up from the same time last year.

Owner Spotlight This quarter’s owner spotlight falls on Ashleigh Scully: a visionary conservation photographer at just 13 years old. Ashleigh’s love of wildlife coupled with her tremendous and growing talent for photography have built her an impressive resume, which includes National Geographic Kids Online and a Wildlife Photographer of the Year award. Ashleigh charms us by naming Jackson as her most beloved place to photograph, so watch for her on the heels of Mangelsen & Holdsworth, and read more about her here: http://www.mnn.com/earth-matters/animals/stories/13year-old-conservation-photographer-changing-minds-oneanimal-photo-at-time

The Holidays in Jackson Hole The holidays are filling up. Please book by August 1 if you plan to join us over the 2015 Holiday Season. Also, mark your calendars for December 19th: the official JHMR 50th Birthday Party!

Jackson Hole’s 50th Anniversary The evolution of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort was kick-started in the early 1960’s by the passionate dream of its founders, Paul McCollister and Alex Morley. From humble and rugged beginnings, this dream was fully realized decades later with the ingenuity of a family with historic ties to the Cowboy State. In their tenure of ownership since 1992, the Kemmerer family has invested greatly in the prosperity of Jackson Hole and the state of Wyoming. With vast improvements to operations, lifts and infrastructure, they have ushered Jackson Hole Mountain Resort into its present-day luster and world-wide iconic status as “The Big One.”
