A Letter from Caitlin
In true Jackson fashion, the snow has already started flying. While the annual and thankfully ephemeral September sn motivated locals and tourists to start pondering their winter quivers, it also subsided rather quickly into Jackson’s best ke September weather. The weather cooperated this year as avid skiers and fans of Teton Gravity Research’s annual film party dotted the Village Commons just outside Terra’s back door. TGR shares with us their slow motion time-lapse vide crowds piling into the Commons!
I am fresh off a 22 mile hike through Open Canyon, across the Mount Hunt Divide, and down through Granite Canyon. Turrinelli, fellow owner, and I tucked our bear spray into our packs and meandered up the well-marked, shaded canyon magnificent views of the backside of the Resort. As we (tiredly) shifted into fast pace-down-and-out mode through the 9 Granite Canyon, we happened upon (600 yards downhill) a mama grizz and her sow loafing around the banks of a cre crisp morning start, the roaming grizzlies, and the quiet trails are the fall trifecta that Jackson locals and owners have c recognize as a second summer season.
I tried channeling my inner “Jimmy Chin” during this arduous hike. I can’t stop thinking about his film Meru, released th September. Inspiring, compelling, breathtaking—we knew this award wining film at Sundance, starting local hero & pss Owner Jimmy Chin, would deliver, but its story & cinematography surpassed all possible expectations. Set on the Shark the Northern Himalaya, this tale of big wall climbing stays with you long after you leave the theater. Released throughou and Canada: it is simply a must see.
In honor of their 50th birthday, the Resort hosted a media and PR based Jackson-inspired party that accompanied an showcasing the culinary cuisine of Jackson Hole. Chef Kevin Humphries joined Couloir Chef, Wes Hamilton, and Fine Chefs Roger Freedman and Joel Tate at the James Beard House to wow New Yorkers with their culinary inspiration expertise. This was a prestigious and exciting event to be apart of, and one that my palate won’t soon forget.
This summer and fall have been busy for Terra. Working with the Noble House team and Gavin Fine from the Osteria, been developing plans to enhance the lobby and restaurant offerings for Terra. Last year, we discussed this as a poss this fall, yet after expanding the concept for more elaborate integration with the restaurant, the team is looking to “break right after the resort closes on April 4th. We look forward to sharing our plans at the Annual Owners Meeting.
It was a wonderful summer and early fall, and I enjoyed seeing many of you throughout your summer travels. I look forw epic “el nino” winter that promises an abundance of powder days. Best wishes, Caitlin

Press Highlights Gather the boys and head for Hotel Terra: at least that is what a men’s focused online publication called for in its “11 Best Outdoor Locations Bachelor Party Locations,” which includes a photo and mention of Terra.
On the flipside of the spectrum sits the Eric Orton Run Camp. Camp participant and author for Women’s Running Magazine touts Jackson Hole as a resort not just for skiers, as she laces up her sneakers and tackles the Resort’s trails as a runner. A mention in Real Simple magazine flaunts Terra as one of the 25 Best Resorts in the Continental US, which rounds out the quarter’s praiseworthy press releases. Think Pink with Chill Spa and Travel + Leisure. In an online article, Travel + Leisure “Travel Brands ‘Thinking Pink’ For Breast Cancer Awareness, Travel + Leisure (8.1 million online visitors) pointed to Chill Spa’s “Chill for a Cause” awareness package.
Summer in Review Terra was up 13% overall this summer with its growth largely due to rate. The group business in July was shy of years past, but it offered us an opportunity to push leisure business and gain a higher nightly rate as a result. 5 star reviews poured in from Trip Advisor reviewers, with highlights touting the fantastic location and excellent service and post-hike amenities.
Winter Pace We always hope the snow comes early, and December becomes more than just the last 7 days of the month. December is ahead of the same time last year by 3%, and the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort’s well-timed 50th Anniversary Party will help attract guests starting on December 19th. Terra is currently pacing 10% ahead for the winter season, with growth mostly attributed to rate. Group business on the books includes a hotel-wide buyout in late January.
Mark your Calendars The annual owners meeting will be Thursday February 4th. A formal announcement will follow, but please email Anne.Jones@tetonresorts.com to reserve your residence if you plan to join us! As you may know, this is the 50th Anniversary of the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. The official kickoff starts with $5 lift tickets for Black Friday, but the real launch will be on December 19th with the opening of the new lift to the Crags, and we welcome the new restaurant, Off Piste, to the former Headwall Deli location. Off Piste will offer lunch and dinner options at more casual pricing than the Couloir.
