MESSAGE FROM MEMBERSHIP Dear Members, Wow! Time is flying by! We’ve experienced an incredible season to date with warm weather, bright sunny skies, azure blue gulf waters and all new golf greens along with a calendar chocked full of events with more to come. The events have been outstanding with members enjoying a variety of activities at the Club. The themed Member Receptions have been well attended with members lingering to chat or dance until late to the sounds of Martin Ross. Identity Theft expert, Carrie Kerskie, was terrific; with members leaving the Club saying “I’m afraid” as they walked out the door. The Trish McEvoy event hosted at Nordstrom was fun-filled and once again a trending fashion experience. The Culinary Series have been informative with new spins on preparation of certain food concepts. The Golf Club has been busy hosting events such as Dozen and Dinner, dinner dance and Carvery Nights!
make sure you check out the Club Calendar to get the complete picture. Rave reviews keep coming in from diners in the Private Club. “Amazing,” “exceptional,” “superb” are just a few of the comments I hear – and in my opinion, that rates above “good” anytime. Chef Alfredo, keep up the great work! Thank you for your support of the new rules regarding cars and guests. These changes have made a positive difference as we work towards enhancing every aspect of your experience here at the Club. Finally, we’re continually making improvements to our facilities, services and programs, based on the feedback from our members. We’ve received great comments on all the new pool and beach furniture, the club locker rooms, and the new Tiki Bar furniture. In April we will be sending out by email the Club Member Yearly Survey. We love receiving member feedback, so please keep your comments and suggestions coming by completing the survey. Thank you for being a LaPlaya Club Member! As some members share with me, “It’s the best thing I ever did”.
Martin Ross, our new Club Entertainer, has invigorated the Beach Club with his wide repertoire of songs from all genres for all ages. It’s delightful to watch members enjoy desserts, cordials and dance in the Club Lounge until late in the evening, yes; we can stay up past 9 PM in Naples! Martin plays softer music for early diners and then turns it up a little later. If you have a special request, just ask him to play; if Martin doesn’t know it, he will the next time you come into the Club. Soon you will be receiving by email, the CLUB QUARTERLY, which highlights the new activities occurring in the Club Dining Room and Lounge. Club Food & Beverage Manager, Tom Wright, has created several fantastic events. Don’t miss “O-Live It Up Hour,” or “Just Desserts,” or the Peter Michael Winery Dinner, or the BYOB, “Blend Your Own Bordeaux.” Also at the Club Bar, if you would like to try something popular in artisanal spirits, the highly acclaimed St. George Absinthe Verte is a force to be reckoned with! These are just a few of the new activities we have planned;

NOTE FROM PATRICK As the winter golfing season is winding down for another year, the golf course maintenance team is already making plans for course improvements during the upcoming summer months. This work will include tree trimming, resodding poor performing areas in the fairways and roughs, improving bunker consistency and landscape improvements. One plant that you will be seeing more of on the course is Red Copperleaf (Acalypha). We have added this to several areas throughout the course in the last year in order to provide some splashes of color. Beginning in June we will also begin our yearly aerifications of all closely mowed areas. This year we will perform this operation for the first time on the renovated greens. This will assist with the maturing process of the greens and aide in making them more receptive to golf shots during the busy golfing season next year.
As the club moves forward into the age of technology, ForeTees will become the main hub for you to make and adjust tee times a week in advance and find daily current information happening at the Golf Club. You can make tee time reservations online or via the ForeTees App. For those of you heading north for the summer, safe travels and happy golfing. For those of you that will be in Naples for the summer, "lets play some golf".

LAUREL'S CORNER
3. For 6 footers, take the putter straight back to straight thru the intended target. Longer putts, therefore a longer stroke, will naturally go a little more on a round arc, inside to square to inside. 4. Make sure to keep your lower body and head still as you stroke the ball. Just feel more of your arms and shoulders in the stroke. We usually miss the short putts because we are moving and steering the ball.
Dear Members, Are you at that stage where you are just about to break 100, 90, 80? The difference is a couple less putts per 9. No three putts and making a couple of 6 footers per round will get your scores lower than you thought possible.
Next time you go to practice, don't just get stuck on the driving range, take some time with your putting. Your scores will come down! Drive for show and PUTT FOR DOUGH!
When you go out to practice (I know how you all love practicing your putting), here are a few tips. 1. Make sure your eyes are over the ball - put a ball between your eyes and drop it to see where it lands. If you hit the ball that is on the ground then you are good. 2. Check to see that the blade of the putter face is lined up to your intended line-a lot of us tend to aim the blade a little open or closed and then compensate to get it back on line. Use a chalk line or I use a homemade device- two pencils with a string attached to them and put one pencil just past the hole and the other pencil stretched out on your line. Then put the putter underneath that and you can see right away how a square putter face looks to you for your line. You only need it about 8 feet long. Check with me in the pro shop to borrow one.

Every guest is invited to blend their own wine out of the classic varietal components of Bordeaux–Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petite Verdot and, Cabernet Franc. Guests will use Trinchero Reserve’s single Vineyard Estate wines to create their blend, and can even see what our Meritage tastes like before blending their own.
