Member News NODA Sends Appreciation to Outgoing Treasurer Jennifer Kick
NODA Welcomes a New Treasurer Nancy Danielson
Jennifer has served on the executive board for five years and reluctantly vacated due to time conflicts. A NODA member since 2009, she became treasurer in 2010. Jennifer loves the educational aspect of NODA and being involved with a group dedicated to horses and the sport of dressage.
Nancy Danielson has been voted into the executive board position of Treasurer. NODA thanks Nancy for taking on this position during the busy show season. Those members having a need to contact Nancy must text or email her at 440-759-2117 (text only) or treasurer@nodarider.org.
Jennifer was “practically born on a horse.” She states, “I was in the competition ring starting at age 3 and have not stopped yet. My mother, Elspeth Kick, was a trainer and riding instructor and ran her own boarding and training facility, so I was in it from the start. I competed in the hunter/jumper ring and Geauga County 4-H for a good part of my youth and competed in my first horse trials when I was 14. Since then I have been actively competing in combined training, jumpers and dressage.” Jennifer relates that her greatest influence in her equestrian endeavors was her mother, Elspeth Kick. Recently, Jennifer’s focus has turned to her two-year-old German Oldenburg Colt, By Design. He has started some lunging and she will be competing him in Dressage Sport Horse Breeding classes, but mostly he hangs out in the pasture!
Two years as a NODA member, Nancy says she has decided to volunteer as treasurer because, “we have raised and shown alpacas and I know how hard it is to get people to volunteer, plus I have booking keeping experience.” Nancy has been riding on and off since childhood, but took a break about 14 years ago when she sadly had to put her horse down. Two years ago she got back into riding and she feels lucky to have Marty, a 17 year old New Zealand Thoroughbred, schooled to 4th level. Although Nancy says she is not quite working fourth level now, she appreciates his experience. She also drives a ten year old pinto mini named Lance. Nancy looks forward to getting to know other members and helping where she can.
Jennifer would like to express her sincere thanks to Dee Liebenthal and the NODA Board. She really enjoyed working with everyone and hopes in the future to have more free time and to participate in some capacity.
