Lost
What is this pounding and lapping of black water Against the stone steps of the fondamente, These silver drops of rain , if not paragraphs and syllables Describing the light falling to the earth? What are these red and blue reflections In the sea -throe, licking at and swallowing the stars, If they are not a lover’s lips and tongue Circling the mooring post of our souls And lifting the bridges of our bodies closer To the mirror of the moon ? We are nothing If not the shadows and shades of a meaning lost To the mortal sentences of our being.
