NAPA VALLEY, CALIFORNIA
Thirty miles long and five miles wide, Napa Valley is home to more than 500 wineries through a collection of six charming towns: Napa, Yountville, Oakville, Rutherford, St. Helena, and Calistoga. You can find many of life’s finest indulgences here, like wine, food, relaxation, and plenty of adventure. And best of all? It is conveniently located only an hour North of San Francisco, or alternately, an hour West of Sacramento.
Napa Valley has been regarded as the leading region for producing American wine since the 1970's, when it first gained prominence internationally. Because of this, it's easy to forget the incredible culinary scene, luxury resorts, rejuvenating hot springs, and stunning scenery combined with small town charm that makes this destination so special.
Despite experiencing challenges from brushfires and mandated closures, Napa Valley hotels, wineries, and restaurants are flourishing today. Most places book up weeks (or months) in advance, and reservations are necessary nearly everywhere; so it’s vital that you plan ahead before visiting.
The valley's unofficial gateway is easily identified by a pair of bridges that cross the Napa River. For decades, tourists have driven past this part of town; however, in recent years, these the town of Napa, making this renowned winery much more accessible.
Victorian-lined streets have undergone a renaissance, turning downtown Napa into a walkable hub for dining, shopping, and wine tasting. Today, you can find dozens of wine tasting rooms, as well as breweries, distilleries, and bars that are brand new- or date back to the 1970's or earlier.

When it comes to eating, skip the lines that form at Napa Valley’s staple breakfast joints (Model Bakery and chef Thomas Keller’s Bouchon Bakery); instead, follow locals to their favorite spots, like Contimo Provisions and Farmstead at Longmeadow Ranch. Other local hot spots include Evangeline in Calistoga, Goose & Gander and Market in St. Helena, and Lucy in Yountville.
