LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA

I'm excited to introduce you to my granddaughter, Birdie. Like my sons, she's spent her early childhood growing up at our office. Here's a look at her life: from time spent with her Dada (my son Michael, our company president), to helping out during busy work weeks, celebrating her birthday clad in her favorite color, pink, or falling asleep on the way home to Taylor Swift singalongs.

Me and my boys, 1993.

In 1979, my husband, Lonnie, and I started our company out of our home garage. From the start, we were a family-run business, and that has never changed. In the beginning, we were young and naive, but we had a dream and were determined to make it come to life.

Four decades later, the world has changed in countless ways- our two sons are poised to take over the next generation of leadership of our company, we now sell more clothes

online than we do in stores, and my granddaughters have become our new bosses. With all of that change, one thing still remains the same and has never wavered: our commitment to ethical business practices and making clothes responsibly.

Last year, my second granddaughter, Kennedy, was born. I want to ensure we do everything we can to make sure her future is brighter. That means organizing employee volunteer events to plant fruits and vegetables at urban farms for our homeless neighbors, and donating to the National Park Foundation to ensure that these important shared spaces are available to future generations. It also means partnering with CleanHub, The

Nature Conservancy, and the World Land Trust to ensure the resources that I had growing up will also be available to my granddaughters.

When I walk into our office each morning, it feels like I'm dreaming- after 45 years, I'm lucky to work alongside the people I love the most: my family.

Summer is the peak season for many vegetables, like bell peppers, zucchinis, tomatoes, and onions. Grilled skewers make these nutritious ingredients extremely tasty and easy to season based on personal taste. They're easy to serve and eat, making them perfect for picnics, barbecues, or any other family gatherings you may have have this summer.

Barbecue Rosemary Veggie Skewers

These skewers are a flavorful addition to any outdoor gathering or meal. Perfect for picnics and summer nights, they're fresh, easy, and perfect for warm weather.

What you need

– Assorted vegetables (such as bell peppers, cherry tomatoes, zucchini, mushrooms, onions, etc.), chopped into bite-sized pieces

– Wooden skewers, soaked in water for at least 30 minutes

– Fresh rosemary sprigs

– Olive oil

– Salt and pepper, to taste

– Barbecue sauce (store-bought or homemade)

Directions

– Wash and chop the assorted vegetables into bite-sized pieces. Try to keep them all roughly the same size for even cooking.

– Take a soaked wooden skewer and thread the chopped vegetables onto it, alternating between different types for variety and color. Leave a little space at each end of the skewer for easy handling.

– Strip the leaves from the bottom two-thirds of each rosemary sprig, leaving the top intact. These will be added to the skewers for extra flavor.

– Slide the assembled vegetable skewers onto the prepared rosemary sprigs, gently pressing them onto the woody stems. The rosemary will infuse the vegetables with its aromatic flavor as they cook.

– Season the skewers by drizzling with olive oil and salt and pepper (to taste). Alternatively, you can brush them with barbecue sauce for a different flavor.

– Preheat your barbecue or grill to medium-high heat.

– Place the assembled skewers on the preheated grill and cook for about 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, or until the vegetables are tender and
