Elliott Sailors

is a model, actress and a writer, and most of all someone who fights for more acceptance and freedom in this world. Intrigued by her genuine style and personality, I was eager to get a closer look at her astir yet laid back approach to life and her thoughts on many topics I am curious about. My tête-à-tête with Elliott made me think about the subject of transformation, made me grasp and eventually celebrate difference, while exploring the possibilities of personal choice and free will on either side of the gender spectrum. Our casual conversation is all about embracing changes, establising inner peace and expressing one’s true self. It is a tender overture for cultivating an open minded planet, tolerant towards all human beings.

The greatest thing about this interview is undoubtedly its honesty. It leads to genuine revelations about what it means to be yourself, without taking into consideration people’s opinion, outside of your private cosmos.

On Natural Beauty:

I moved to NYC to start my career in 2001. It was in I love to see the way natural beauty evolves over 2012 when I chose to start modelling menswear as time, without unnatural intervention. The beauty I well. value most, of course, lies within the soul.

On Menswear:

On Youth:

It is funny that society feels this need to draw a division between menswear and womenswear. Heels “Youth is wasted on the young.” were originally made for men, the color pink was first worn by men, and versions of “dresses” are still worn by men throughout the world today. I chose to participate in the @allwomanproject encouraging anyone who defines themselves as any version of a woman to share their beauty by posting and using the #iamallwoman – for the purpose of creating visibility and inclusivity for all versions of womanhood. The movement is intended to include all body aesthetics of every shape, color and presentation.

“Beauty cannot be defined, as it is limitless, fluid and always evolving.”

Definition of Beauty:

The 90s:

Beauty cannot be defined, as it is limitless, fluid and always evolving.

My first introduction to modelling was in 1991, when I was 9 years old. I have a tremendous appreciation and fascination with 90’s fashion, photography and the stunning supermodels of that era. I love to see many of these fashion icons still working today!

Nourish your skin and your soul.

I recently shot with the photographer, Alexi Lubomirski for his new book, Diverse Beauty. This movement encourages people to post using the #iamdiversebeauty in celebrating diverse beauty and also promoting the sale of his book – with 100% of the proceeds supporting Concern Worldwide, as they work with the world’s poorest people in transforming their lives. Beauty can be found anywhere, and always in transformation.
