FDS
Future Designers of Syracuse Events Mission: mentorship and outreach program with interested Syracuse City School District high schools in order to expose specifically minority or low income students to the architecture and design fields.
FDS Why? There is a large disconnect from us (one of the undergrad architecture schools in the US) and Syracuse (one of the top ten poorest cities acc to the US 2017 census)
FDS What? Series of activities and lectures once every two weeks to create groundwork for a portfolio they can use to apply to schools. Scholarships are a very possible outcome as well.
FDS Next Steps: This semester is focused on logistical work. Preliminary funding has been raised. Next step is to reach out to schools in the district. We have around 30 members and some from other schools in the uni (EDI, ESF, Newhouse)
FDS Needed: All of E-Board are 4th years so we are especially looking for shadow applicants for board positions to keep this initiative alive (Prior movements) Basic roles are committee board, activities, mentors, and pr Social Media: insta: @fdsyracuse
