Exterior Chopping Blades
THE TOUGHEST CHOPPER PUMPS ON THE MARKET!
Landia chopper pumps, with the unique external chopping system, are designed for pumping heavily contaminated liquids and sludge with high solids concentration.
The chopping system is completely separated from the pump casing and the impeller. This prevents blocking of the pump and its subsequent piping, as all chopping is completed before the liquid enters the pump housing. The wear on the pump casing, impeller and sealing system is significantly reduced due to the chopping system design.
Due to the open impeller design the Landia chopper pump is also ideal for pumping high viscosity liquids. If the pumped liquid is abrasive, the pumps are available with special hardened pump components which will extend the lifetime significantly compared to standard material.
Landia chopper pumps can be found in wastewater applications, in biogas plants, the food industry, mining, paper mills, etc. The applications are numerous and in general a Landia chopper pump takes over where other pumps give up.

The Easiest Way to Add Air to Oxidation Ditches
Frustrated with the ever-increasing frequency of having to cope with grease and frequently de-rag their duty pumps, the staff at Madisonville, TX WWTP decided that investment in tougher, more resilient equipment was required.
First a Landia Chopper Pump replaced one of the existing duty pumps, which was clogging. Next a Landia AeriGator pump was installed, to attack the grease and scum problem in the lift station. Prior to installing the AeriGator, the plant was having to use a full drum of anti- greasing chemical every two weeks to reduce the build-up of FOG.
“The AeriGator also reduces particle size, so those greaseballs we used to see are a thing of the past,” said Allen Castillo, WWTP Superintendent. “Our team takes great pride in making this plant as efficient as possible. – and thanks to Landia, we can see a big difference in all of our tanks, with the lift station right through to final effluent looking so much better”.
With just 480 residential connections at one of the most coveted neighborhoods around Lake Lyndon B. Johnson, the district was weighed down with lift station maintenance and increasing odor concerns.
For a solution was suggested the Landia AeriGator chopper pump with an external knife cutting system and a venturi nozzle that injects air into scum blankets.
After the success of the 6.5 HP Chopper Pump at the Deer Haven lift station, the district introduced a 6.5 HP Landia EradiGator chopper pump for the slightly smaller Sandy Harbor lift station, where the $15,000 pump failure had occurred.
“Since we started using the Landia pumps, the waste buildup is no longer sitting in the lift stations, so we have a much fresher product with greatly reduced odors.”
Knives and forks, latex gloves
Knives and forks, latex gloves, grease, potato chip wrappers and condoms – just some of the harsh media being successfully dealt with by Landia’s relentless Chopper Pumps at the 144-bed Crittenden County Detention Center.
Located in a wet well just outside the Center’s maintenance office at the receiving dock, the
Chopper Pumps are macerating the solids with their own robust knife system, which prevents clogging and subsequent breakdowns and failures.
Wes Cullin, Facilities Maintenance Superintendent at Crittenden, said: “We have not had one single problem with the pumps. They have been operating great!”
