POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for operating and maintaining the wastewater pretreatment facility while maintaining compliance with all limits in the wastewater discharge permit. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Operate and maintain all wastewater treatment equipment. • Maintain effective biological treatment in the wastewater treatment system. • Read meters and make adjustments to optimize treatment of wastewater. • Collect wastewater samples and analyze, or preserve then ship to a certified lab for analysis. • Keep a log of analytical data for operational control. • Monitor daily and monthly wastewater flows to meet the discharge permit levels. • Wastewater pretreatment facility must be kept cleaned and documents organized. • Follow all safety policies and report any employee safety violations or near misses. • Other duties may be assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. FARMLAND What about these markets! Up, up, & away. I just heard a prediction of $1.10 hogs, and $1.30 fat cattle. With the unrest in the world, who knows what's in store for livestock prices, grain prices, and land, however, we do know that many successful investors advise to take some money off the table when it is there. With come cold weather setting in maybe this thing will freeze dry & spring will be nice! It was great visiting with several cattlemen at the Iowa Beef Expo. Expo auctions were outstanding with some bull sales averaging over $4000. I thought the mineral feeders with face fly rub on them looked ok a very nice deal. Listen To Your Mother: Wash Your Hands (NAPSI)—Despite the obvious benefits, there are still many people who do not follow good hand- washing habits. “If we all simply wash our hands frequently and correctly, we can play a huge role in reducing the spread of germs from one person to another,” said Paul Santoro, CRNA, president of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA). “From a healthcare perspective, the AANA views hand-washing negligence as a critical patient safety problem and promotes requiring all health- care professionals to comply with proper hand hygiene standards for their own safety and the safety of their patients.” To help promote hand hygiene, the healthcare experts at the AANA recommend that everyone follow these simple tips on proper hand-washing from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC): • How to wash: Wet hands with clean running water and apply soap. For 20 seconds, rub hands together to make a lather and scrub all surfaces. To ensure that this is being done for 20 seconds, try humming the “Happy Birthday” song from beginning to end two times. Afterward, rinse hands well under running water before drying them with a paper towel or an air dryer. If possible, use a paper towel to turn off the faucet. • When to wash: Hands should be washed before and after preparing food, eating, touching people, treating wounds or giving medicine, and treating a sick or injured person.
