"We're saying farewell to the breezy lightness of summer and looking forward to a rich and cozy feel in the season that takes kids back to school and gets us looking toward the excitement of the holi-
days. In fall, inspiration is literally all around you and it's a great time to get inspired to do some projects that will give you a look that is perfectly suited to the season." The do-it-yourself approach makes creating new looks for fall even more fun. Whether you're enhancing your own style or updating your home's decor, it's budget friendly and surprisingly easy to make accessories that would cost a lot in stores. Here are some ideas from the creativity and craft experts at Jo-Ann: * Warm up your wardrobe. Autumn means it's time to go back to the closet - to the very back of the closet, for some of us - and pull out our favorite, never-out-of-style sweaters, slacks, jeans and boots from last year. It's easy to put a 2010 stamp on last year's outfits with a few trendy and stylish new pieces, like a wet-felted scarf, a perfect pencil skirt or sophisticated needle-felted wool jacket. Wool
felting is a great project that you can do right at home with a few simple tools, which allows you to turn yarn into a warm, thick fabric through brushing and exposure to water. It's cool enough for my favorite fall sweater, but I can leave the winter coats in the closet for a little bit longer. Days like these call for something to warm the family up from the inside out. This scrumptious Warm Cherry Bread Pudding with Chocolate Sauce is a little bit of comfort food heaven! This is one of my favorite ways to warm up to fall - what are yours? Warm Cherry Bread Pudding with Chocolate Sauce ~ Makes 6 servings Bread Pudding 18 1/2-inch slices (1 pound loaf) Challah or other egg bread

1 can (12 fluid ounces) Nestlé Carnation Evaporated Milk 1/2 cup water 4 large eggs 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar 1 tablespoon vanilla extract 1 package (6 ounces) dried cherries (about 1 1/3 cups)
Chocolate Sauce 1 cup (6 ounces) Nestlé Toll House Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels 2/3 cup (5 fluid-ounce can) Nestlé Carnation Evaporated Milk 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For Bread Pudding: PREHEAT oven to 400° F. Grease six 6-ounce ramekins. USE a 2 1/2-inch-round cookie cutter or glass to cut circles in bread slices (save remnants for another use). Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 5
minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven. Reduce oven temperature to 350° F.
COMBINE evaporated milk, water and sugar in medium, heavy-duty saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, until sugar is dissolved. Whisk eggs in large bowl. Gradually whisk warm milk mixture into eggs. Stir in rum and vanilla extract.
PLACE prepared ramekins on baking sheet. Place one bread round in each ramekin. Top with level tablespoon of cherries. Repeat layers, then top each ramekin with a third bread round. Divide custard mixture among ramekins. Let stand for 30 minutes, pressing down on bread occasionally.
BAKE for 25 to 27 minutes or until tops are puffed and brown. (Puddings will rise over edge of ramekin but shrink slightly on cooling.) Let cool on wire rack for 10 minutes. Serve with Chocolate Sauce.
For Chocolate Sauce:
COMBINE morsels and evaporated milk in small, heavy-duty saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring frequently, until morsels are melted. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla extract. Makes about 1 cup. Store any remaining sauce tightly covered in refrigerator.

Embrace Autumn Fruits & Veggies
Summertime may seem the ideal time for harvesting fruits and vegetables, but there are plenty of crops that come into season in autumn that can make delicious additions to daily diet. Using seasonal crops eliminates the need for importing produce, helping the environment as a result. So what produce is prime for picking come September through November? Here's a look at the items to pick for fall menu planning.
Blackberries: Those who live in rural areas may find blackberries growing wild, just waiting to be picked. Use shallow boxes instead of bags so that blackberries do not get crushed during transport. Expect wild blackberries to be smaller than commercially cultivated ones. Figs: Fig trees offer an abundance of sweet delights this time of year. For individuals lucky to have a fig tree in the yard, simply go out and pluck a handful of figs for a fiber-filled treat.

Corn: Perhaps no vegetable is more synonymous with autumn than corn. Sweet corn is harvested every fall and is abundant at roadside vendors or at the local store.
Eggplant: Eggplant is available through September in many areas. A main component of the dish ratatouille, eggplant is also ideal in Italian meals or as part of vegetarian sandwiches.
Carrots: Autumn-harvested carrots have a deeper flavor than spring varieties.
Grapes: Grapes are available at the supermarket year-round, but they're in their prime during the autumn season.
Mushrooms: Now is the time to harvest wild mushrooms. However, it may be safer to choose among the many at the supermarket or local farmer.
Apples: Early autumn is prime season for apple picking. Take to the orchards and choose favorite varieties among the red, yellow and green-hued options.
Pears: This is another tree-grown fruit that comes into season in the fall. Put pears, blackberries and apples together to make a tasty crisp dessert or fresh pie.
Pumpkins: Of course pumpkins are known to be fall vegetables. While they are often carved, the flesh can be used in salads, soups and in baked goods.
Blueberries: Though widely considered a summertime fruit, blueberries are often in season through September. Get them while they last.
