IMPACT REPORT 201 7

A NOTE FROM
OUR LEADERSHIP Noonday Collection was launched from an Austin, Texas bedroom eight years ago with one dream: to use fashion to create meaningful opportunities for people around the world. Today, that dream has become a reality—Noonday sustains dignified work for 4,500 Artisans in 14 countries, and our impact reaches 20,400 family members. And it’s all because of our incredible community of customers, Hostesses, and Ambassadors, who have said yes to joining us in building a flourishing world. With this audacious vision still in mind, we are thrilled to introduce our inaugural Impact Report. This report is designed to bring to life the numbers behind our collective impact over the past eight years, as well as provide a deep dive into how you joined us in making a difference in 2017. In addition to outlining
2
more about our approach to dignified job creation, this report also marks the public launch of our Flourishing World Initiative, a direct-aid initiative aimed at bridging the gap for people living in poverty. It’s just one more way your purchases have enabled us to build a world that flourishes for all! Thank you for joining the journey, Jessica Honegger & Travis Wilson Co-CEOs

“During these five years that we have been partners with Noonday Collection, besides offering work for our Artisans, we have also worked to build a sustainable company. Five years ago, the team was made up of 6 Artisans; there are now 35 Artisans working to produce all the products, who can now offer better opportunities to their children and families. -A na Hernandez, an Artisan Entrepreneur in Guatemala

“I have faced all the hardships of life as a woman, and I really wanted other women to gain respect and stand on their own.” Sunita was married at age 14 and had her first child soon after. She felt disempowered in her home and was denied the opportunity to make decisions for her own life. It wasn’t until finding work with Noonday’s Partner Business that her life, and sense of self-worth, began to change. Today, Sunita knows her rights and is respected by her husband in their home. She is now a bold advocate for women in her community who are being abused and works to bring financial and personal empowerment to others.

HOW DO ARTISAN JOBS HELP KEEP FAMILIES TOGETHER? Five years ago, a Ugandan woman named Olivia was on the verge of leaving her daughter Rachel on the steps of the local orphanage because she couldn’t afford to care for her. That’s when Jalia and Daniel, our Ugandan Partners, offered Olivia an Artisan job that changed her life. Olivia was able to keep her family together, and today Rachel is happy, healthy, and receiving a quality education as a Noonday scholarship recipient!

ARTISAN BUSINESS PARTNERS IN UGANDA FOR OVER 8 YEARS
“ The stability that Noonday’s orders provide for our Artisans is huge. Stable work means being able to send your children to school, safer and more secure housing, and the ability to save for the future. Thank you for supporting this growth!” - Chandler, an Artisan Entrepreneur in Haiti
50
H OW WE WORK
CAPACITY BUILDING We invest in operations improvements and training programs to help our Artisan Business Partners grow. THE JOURNEY OF THE MOSSFLOWER WEEKENDER BAG In 2017, we partnered with Faustino and Mercedes in Ayacucho, Peru to improve their bag production. By purchasing state-ofthe-art leather sewing machines and providing technical training from production experts, we helped them master the
capacity to produce our beautiful Mossflower Weekender Bag. When Mercedes first saw the Mossflower design, she was intimidated by its complexity. After Noonday’s investments, her team now has the confidence to produce more intricate designs.
“With Noonday’s support, we now have the confidence in our skills and capacity to produce this beautiful bag.” - Mercedes, an Artisan Entrepreneur in Peru

COLLABORATIVE DESIGN We believe that by practicing collaborative design, we can create one-of-a-kind styles while honoring the craft traditions of our Partners.
In 2017 we partnered with Artisan designers to
DEVELOP 169 NEW COLLABORATIVE DESIGNS
BEHIND THE DESIGN
THE SOAR NECKLACE When we wanted to create a French-inspired style for our collection, we reached out to our Vietnamese Partners and asked them to dream up a new design with us. Using our latest trend reports, our two teams collaborated to develop the Soar Necklace, a dainty style combining traditional techniques with a modern look and feel.

THE FLOURISHING WORLD INITIATIVE We believe that dignified job creation is the most effective way to alleviate poverty—but we know that additional help is often needed to bridge the gap for families in vulnerable communities. That’s why we developed the Flourishing World Initiative, which provides direct financial and in-kind donations to programs that support the well-being of women, children, and families in the Noonday community.
