6 signs you're turning into your mother

She yelled at you to stop wearing so much eye makeup in middle school. She disapproved of your first serious boyfriend. She always noticed when you gained a few pounds and never failed to make a comment. She’s your mom- if not her than who’s better to point these things out to you? Mothers and daughters are biologically programmed to fight. And, of course, as young girls, we swore we weren’t going to be like our moms when we got older. Yet, as we progress into young womanhood, there is some tangible evidence that our biggest nightmare is, in fact, coming true- we’re bound to turn into our mothers.

1. You find yourself passive aggressively commenting on your friends’ taste in men “Oh, honey, I’m sure he’s a total sweetheart, but you can do so much better…” Do you hear the judging tone in your voice? We know you only mean to be helpful. But, you just want what’s best for your friends, and you don’t want to see them get hurt or settle for someone less than their standard.

2. You become irritated when your roommates or siblings play loud music Honestly, it’s a weekday. Is it that necessary to blast Beyonce’s Flawless at the loudest volume? Yes, it’s great that you feel like you’re just as flawless as Queen B, but some of us are trying to sleep in peace.

3. 9 o’clock is your ideal bedtime As you begin to become older the time your sleep slowly begins to shift and change for a number of reasons be it- your work schedule makes you too tired to function after 7 so you go home and get ready for bed until you’re asleep at 9, or you’re worn out from a long day of work, or the idea of your bed seems more attractive than the idea of going out and doing something you did in your earlier years.

4. You pester your older siblings about marriage and babies All you want is a few cute little babies running around the house that you can spoil and continuously call cute— is that so wrong? You love family occasions: weddings, baby showers, etc. All you want is more of those as soon as possible.

5. You beg your friends to take pictures whenever you get together Just like your mom, you begin to enjoy preserving your memories through photographs you can look back on in the future.

6. You want what’s best for the people you care about Like your mother, you may have a funny way of showing it, but you always want the best for those you care about. So, you aim to do what’s right for your friends and family.
