DOOR HAND All doors are denoted by the direction of their swing, or their “hand.” Before a door can be hung, its swing must be known. Currently, there are two methods used to determine the hand of a door. The first method, the one most straightforward and commonly used, designates the door simply as Right Hand (RH) or Left Hand (LH). To determine the swing of the door, simply face the hinge pin side of the door and note the location of the door knob. If the knob is to the left, it is a Left Hand door. If the knob is to the right, it is a Right Hand door. The other method currently in use designates the door as either Right Hand Reverse (RHR) or Left Hand Reverse (LHR). To determine the swing of the door in this method, face the outside of the door. The outside is the street side of an entrance door, the corridor (hall) side of a room door, or the side opposite the hinge pins on a communicating door (a door that connects two rooms). If the door opens toward you and the hinges are on the left, it is a Left Hand Reverse. If the hinges are on the right, it is a Right Hand Reverse. Although both methods are equally accurate and achieve the required results, the first system is preferred. Before hanging a door, make sure that all concerned agree on the method that will be used. This will prevent confusion down the line when the prehung doors are actually being installed.

MATERIAL HANDLING

5-in-1 material handling system Get your material handling issues under control the easy way. Order as many bases as you need to cover every station, then custom configure them by slipping handles, rails, racks or a cage into the slots and quickly securing them with bolts. Each finished base comes with four heavy-duty ball-bearing castors chosen for their ability to glide smoothly even over rough flooring. If you prefer a six-wheel base, specify that option when you order. Handles turn the base into a general handling cart. But any other finish option can be added for more specific applications. Whether you grab your jamb and casing stock vertically or horizontally, you can design a rack to simplify the process and keep the stock organized. Second shift grabs stock another way? Your operators will appreciate being able to work in the way that is most comfortable for them. And you’ll reduce operator fatigue and injury. With the stock cage, shorty stock for headers, sills and head casings can be organized to the nth degree. Workers can pull the stock they’re looking for from either side of the cage…order a single cage for two operators! We put the same engineering into these racks as we do all our machinery components. That’s why you won’t find miters or ground welds that can be a source of weakness and potential failure. In fact, some may say these carts are overbuilt. But we know you are expecting years of hard use on all your material handling equipment, and now you can get it. Call us today to order a fleet of Universal Carts! You’ll see an improvement in your workflow and the bottom line!

MACHINE UPGRADE KITS

MACHINE UPGRADE KITS FOR OLDER NORFIELD MACHINERY 450

450 QUICK CHANGE MATERIAL STOP KIT This kit improves the strength, reliability, and functionality of the 450 stop system. It virtually eliminates breakage due to repeated impact. It makes it possible to accurately position mitered stop on heads. This system also incorporates a quick change arm that makes it possible for the operator to change the setup of the machine in under a minute. This kit also makes it easy to run multiple types of jamb and stop combinations with a minimum of change over time. 26-5804-00 $3,382.00 450 SIDE JAMB REFERENCE KIT The 450 holds the stop a fixed distance from the edge of the jamb as the jamb is processed through the machine. The jamb and the stop are held only in a short area near the nailer. This is to allow for some curvature of the jamb without effecting the position of the stop. As a result it is easy for the operator to position the jamb incorrectly. This kit gives the operator a positive location to locate the edge of the jamb that is farther from the nailer. This helps the operator correctly position the jamb, and then when the cycle is started the side stop is retracted allowing for the curvature of the jamb. 26-5805-00 $993.00

MAGNUM DEWALT 616 ROUTER UPGRADE The early Magnum machines used a Black & Decker or DeWalt motor that is no longer available. This kit converts the early Magnum and Pro butt router assemblies to use the DeWalt DW616 router motor. 26-0036-00 Revisions 0-6 $1,732.00 26-0036-01 Revision 7 $839.00 For all Magnum95/Signature Series through Serial Number DJ2516-95 26-6811-00 SN DJ2201 to DJ2516 $1,088.00 MAGNUM SCALED INDEX BAR This kit is for Magnums serial number DJ2001 and above. When machining doors to match an existing frame the most time consuming part of the job is laying out the locations for the lock height and the hinges. The scaled index bar allows for direct reading of the lock height and hinge locations by utilizing three scales. One scale for the lock location and two scales for the hinge locations. There is no longer any need to layout the door. The operator only needs to know the distance from the top of the door to the top of each hinge location. The scaled index bar fits in the same location as the standard quick change index bar. This bar can be installed and removed as easily as any other index bar. 26-6804-00 without 9’0” extensions $1,945.38 26-6808-00 with 9’0” extensions $2,174.60 MAGNUM UN-LOADER TURNTABLE KIT This information refers to the installation and setup of the Norfield Magnum Door Un-loader Turntable option. When the door has been tilted to the horizontal position the turntable allows the door to be turned around for handling, or it can be fed off in a different direction. 26-6806-00 $4,077.26 MAGNUM LATCH DRILL CYLINDER UPGRADE KIT This kit addresses reliability issues with the latch drill cylinders installed on machines from serial number DJ2201-95 through DJ2540-95. The new cylinder improves the drill feed speed adjustment accuracy and ensures consistent operation. 26-6810-00 $175.00 MAGNUM BACKSET CRANK UPGRADE KIT This kit is for magnums serial number DJ2001-95 through DJ2853-95. The backset adjuster on this series Magnum was designed to be used “Occasionally”. I.E. Once or twice a month. When the backset crank is used “Occasionally” it will last a very long time. Some customers need to adjust the backset several times a day. When it is used this often the threads on the backset crank will wear out prematurely. This kit upgrades the backset crank assembly so that it will handle the rigors of daily adjustment. 26-6814-00 $277.02 1-800-331-0999

250M DUST COLLECTION KIT WITHOUT VACUUM This kit is for all 250M with serial number SR-1850 and above. The cutting bit on a 250M is fairly exposed. This kit, even though it was intended to add vacuum to the machine, provides additional guarding around the bit. 26-023-00 $$$

1020 DOUBLE END TRIM SAW

1020 FILTER, REGULATOR, LUBRICATOR WITH LOCK OUT VALVE This kit is for all 1020s that do not already have a lockout valve. Many of the early 1020s were built before the shut off lock out valve was required on the incoming air line. The lock out valve not only blocks all incoming air it also drains all the air from the system. This relieves all stored energy from the air system. This kit will upgrade the air preparation system on the 1020 to include a lock out device and the necessary filtration and lubrication to maintain the air quality within the 1020. 26-0611-00 $$$ 1020 SAW GUARD KIT This kit is for all 1020s serial number TS-1778 and below. This series saw did not have a guard on the bottom of the blade. It is possible, when the machine is not cutting trim, to touch the blade with your hand. This kit provides a set of guards that cover that access point and make it very difficult to reach the blade. 26-0615-00 $$$

5200 CHAIN SLACK DETECTION This kit is for 5200s serial number LM-5228 through LM-5272. The 5200 feed table and de-stacker table assemblies can sometimes get hung up and the drive would continue to feed the drive chains over the top. The chains could get slack by as much as 6’ before the assembly would come loose and fall. With serial number LM-5273 a system was added that would shut down the machine if the chains became slack. This kit adds this functionality to the machines in the affected serial number range. 26-5209-00 $$$ 58

The elevator motor used on this series Magnum was changed by the manufacturer about 10 years ago. The new style motor is not strong enough to support the top section of a Magnum. When the new style motor is used as an elevator motor for a Magnum, the top section will fall. This kit contains a larger motor that will support the top section of a Magnum. Because the motor is longer it must be mounted differently. 26-0033-00 $$$ 95 MAGNUM CUTTER HEAD GUARD This kit is for all Magnum models with a serial number of DJ-2001 through DJ-2199. The guarding on this series Magnum left the top of the cutter head exposed. This made it possible to drop things into the rotating cutter head. The Machines in the affected serial number range used a keyed e-stop switch. These switches were either the S&S or the AB E-series. Both of these have been discontinued by the manufacturer. NORFIELD SERVICE AND INFORMATION

Learn how a planned maintenance program will save time, money and your machinery. How much lost production time do you have each year? You may think your machinery performance is something you control. And you sometimes put time in every month to keep it running at its top speed. We recently talked to a customer who felt 4 hours of maintenance every two weeks was an acceptable level of performance. However, he didn’t factor in lost production time. One half day every two weeks is a full production day every month, and 12 production days every year. When maintenance adversely affects performance, consider a change. In our desire to support our customers, we are dedicated to keeping your operation running at its peak performance level. We now offer a comprehensive Planned Maintenance Program that will save you time, money, and machinery over the life of the program. The Field Engineers who work on your machinery are fully trained from the ground up, and then receive factory certification on each machine. Our certified Field Engineers will perform the Planned Maintenance Service and make a careful analysis of your machinery. You will then be provided a complete evaluation of each machine, including recommendations for Corrective Maintenance (repair work), upgrades to improve machinery performance, and a regular PM schedule based on the volume on individual machines. Norfield’s goal is to ensure your success. Call our Service department or your Norfield rep today to discuss how we may better serve your production goals in the future.

NORFIELD SERVICE AND INFORMATION

What happens during Planned Maintenance? Planned Maintenance Service • Replace wear parts • Perform alignments and adjustments • Test machinery in production • Customer acceptance Support Evaluation with recommendations for: • Corrective Maintenance (repair work) • Upgrades and/or modifications • Volume based PM schedule

At the time of the Planned Maintenance service, our certified Field Engineer will replace wear parts, perform all alignments and adjustments, thoroughly test the equipment in production and verify your acceptance of the results. Also, we will evaluate the condition of the equipment and recommend Corrective Maintenance (repairing equipment malfunctions), upgrades and/or modifications that can optimize machine performance. Finally, we will make a careful analysis of the volume on your machinery to establish a PM Schedule tailored to your production requirements. Norfield will track and initiate all future maintenance visits. How often do I need Planned Maintenance? The need for PM visits is determined by the amount of volume run on the machine since the last PM. This is called a Service Interval and it varies by machine (see ‘Service Intervals’ below).
