FACILITY SPOTLIGHT: BERKLEY COMMUNITY CENTER
Sincerely,
Darrell R. Crittendon, Director Recreation, Parks & Open Space As part of ‘refreshing’ activities, the kitchen at Berkley Community Center recently received some major upgrades. From the annual neighborhood Thanksgiving feast to family reunions, the center is a bustling place. “The center offers much to the community, “ said Michael Ivy, Recreation Specialist at Berkley Community Center, “and the kitchen is a big part of that.” Upgrades include a larger stove, renovated range hood, commercial refrigerator, ice machine, stainless steel sinks, countertops, stainless steel backsplash, cabinets, and more. The layout was upgraded to allow for ease of access and better food prep flow, from cooking, to serving, to cleaning. The renovations, begun in late July of 2015, were completed in early November and celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony as a kick-off to a popular seniors’ night event.
