FROM THE RPOS DIRECTOR Summer sun means family fun! This summer season you will find opportunities to get every member of the family out to play. Get the wiggles out with a Mommy & Me dance class or learn storytelling through the art of hula. Sing along with local artist Amy Ferebee to learn the alphabet, numbers and rhyming. Let the kids experiment with paints and brushes at a painting workshop or create your own stepping stones to make the backyard garden even more special. Don’t miss out on the free and family-friendly programs brought to you by Norfolk’s Park Rangers. Explore the natural world at the monthly toddler program, Guardians of the Greenery, take dad fishing, discover the predators of the Chesapeake Bay, build your own s’mores, and more! And of course it wouldn’t be summer without a little splashing around. Cool off in the waters of one of our beautiful beaches, pools, and splash pads. Be sure to review the beach lifeguard hours and safety tips below to keep your family safe in the surf. Registration opens May 30. Make this a summer to remember! Sincerely,

Darrell R. Crittendon, Director Recreation, Parks & Open Space
