ELIZABETH RIVER COMPACT - the Cities of Norfolk and Portsmouth are working together to strengthen inclusiveness in communications and planning including event marketing, policing, and transportation
OCEAN VIEW - several initiatives are underway within the community which include branding the Bayfront beaches, formation of a business association and new multifamily and mixed-use projects
NORFOLK CONSOLIDATED COURTHOUSE - the 100,000 SF phase 2 addition opened in February. It includes 6 courtrooms and the Law Library. It is served by The Tide
POLICE - Norfolk crime reports fell in 2017 by 15% the first half of the year as compared to 2016. Chief Boone has implemented new policing strategies with detective squads working closer together
BEACH REPLENISHMENT - the $34.5 million project was completed in summer 2017. It widened the seven miles of beach by 60 feet in East Ocean View, Ocean View and Willoughby Spit
ST. PAUL’S AREA - a comprehensive approach is in the works to support residents living in the area to achieve self-sufficiency by engaging the community and stakeholders with revitalization strategies
OHIO CREEK WATERSHED PROJECT - Norfolk was awarded a $112 million federal grant from the NDRC for this project. The team is exploring options to improve flooding and more in the Chesterfield Heights and Grandy Village neighborhoods to create the Coastal Community of The Future
100 Resilient Cities - the Rockefeller Foundation’s global initiative has led to Sydney’s adoption of our Vision 2100 process and Paris adopted the Retain Your Rain program. Both are programs based in Norfolk
