Norfolk County Youth Action Committee is for students ages 13-19 looking to get involved in their community.

High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD)

The Principles of Healthy Child Development is a 4 hour training that equips front-line leaders, or anyone interested in working with children ages 4 - 12 years, with the tools to enhance the quality of recreation programs. Front-line leaders will learn how to create child-centered programs, ensuring each child’s social, emotional and cognitive needs are met. Perfect for camp counsellors, after school staff, swim instructors and coaches. 14+

Safety for Independent Living Program

Safety for Independent Living was designed in collaboration with Community Living Ontario and Central West Specialized Developmental Services to meet the needs of youth and adults with intellectual disabilities. It is a comprehensive safety program that covers People Safety, Online Safety, Road Safety, Fire Safety, Injury Prevention and Basic First Aid. The program provides a variety of visual, tactile and kinesthetic resources to help meet individual learning needs. 14+

• To provide youth with leadership opportunities that will encourage personal growth.

• To facilitate and forge strong connections between youth in the community and Norfolk County.

• To positively enhance the profile of youth in our county.

• You can pick up an application from your high school’s student services department, the Simcoe Recreation Centre, or by contacting Jayne Aldridge Recreation Coordinator of Child, Youth & Special Events at jayne.aldridge@ norfolkcounty.ca

• All new members are required to complete a Youth Council Application, the Norfolk County Volunteer Package including WHMIS, AODA, and a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check.
