CATALOGUE 2019 / 2020
Mixture April Fools’ Day
Dear Customer, We are proud to present to you our new autumn catalogue 2019. CSW Landscaping is the wholesale address where the professional horticulturist purchases his or her bulbs. Our large range of flower bulbs has specifically been selected to meet the demands of landscapers, municipalities, botanical gardens and other horticulturists who incorporate large quantities of flower bulbs. Our assortment has been further expanded and revised to meet your requirements even better. Over the past few years, we have seen a growing interest in ready-made mixtures, particularly deliciously fragrant mixtures that attract bees and butterflies. These mixtures contribute to the desired biodiversity. We also want to satisfy the demand of the horticulturists who wants to compile a mixture themselves. With the composition of sustainable mixtures in mind, which flower over several years, we have greatly expanded our range of botanical tulips. You can also compile your own mixture in collaboration with us. Whether you want a colourful border with long-stemmed tulips or a mixture that provides colour early in the year for consecutive years, everything is possible. If you have any questions about our products and the way they can be used, our team at CSW Landscaping will be pleased to assist. We pack our products in manageable and useful units that offer you the flexibility to allow your creativity to flow freely. You can find the number of bulbs per package in our price list. We have compiled our price list with the greatest care based on the smallest packaging unit. But if you are looking for larger numbers of one variety, we will be more than happy to offer you a tailor-made quotation. Besides the advantages of buying flower bulbs from CSW Landscaping, as mentioned above, you can rely on premium quality bulbs and adequate delivery. To facilitate and accelerate the order process, you can also order your flower bulbs online via our web shop: www.cswlandscaping.com. We sincerely hope that you will enjoy going through our catalogue and we are looking forward to welcoming you (back) as a customer this autumn.

Why plant mixed bulbs?
With a carefully composed bulb mix, you can considerably extend the flowering period of your planted bulbs. A relatively simple mix allows you to extend the flowering period by a few weeks. For more complex mixes, it is even possible to achieve a flowering period of two to three months. These mixes start in March with early-flowering bulbs like Crocus and Puschkinia and end in May with Allium and Camassia.
Various mixes are ideal for multi-year flowering. You plant the mix once and have years of enjoyment from your flowers with minimal maintenance. We shall be happy to advise you on which mixes are best suited to achieve many years of flowering.
Planting mixes under grass ensures colourful and dazzling verges in the spring. With our special machine for planting bulbs under grass, we can transform each verge into a sea of flowers. And using the right mixes in combination with a suitable mowing plan will ensure that you can enjoy the splendour of early bloomers year after year.
Flower bulb mixes contribute to biodiversity! Early-flowering bulbs like Chionodoxa, Fritillaria and Narcissus are often the first source of nectar after winter. This early nectar is crucial as a food supply for bees and butterflies in the spring.
9
Aside from mixes providing colour during a long period of time in the year when few other plants are in flower, there are also economic and social benefits. Several studies have shown that people are happier and healthier in a green environment. The early flowering period of bulb mixes means they create an excellent transition from a winter gardenscape and trees and shrubs that are still bare.

The important role of bees
44
Over the last few years, there has been more and more interest in the role of bees within our ecosystem. And rightly so! Bees take care of the pollination of more than three quarters of our food crops. Without bees, there would not be any cherries, apples, peppers or even coffee. It is therefore of the utmost importance to care about bees and to support them where we can because bees have been going through difficult years recently. Due to the gradual decline of their natural environment, both in terms of quality and quantity, bee colonies are under a great deal of pressure.
By taking a few simple measures, we can make their lives a lot more pleasant and easier. By sowing and planting the right crops, we can create an important source of pollen and nectar. Flowering bulbs can play an important role in this. Due to the early flowering period of the various bulbs, flowering bulbs are often the first source of nectar and pollen for bees in early spring when they appear after their winter rest.
At CSW Landscaping, we offer a broad assortment of flower bulbs that are a source of pollen and nectar. There are still a lot of differences between the varieties in terms of the production of nectar and pollen. Location and weather conditions also play an important role. There will be more pollen production on warm, dry days than on rainy days. We marked the varieties that attract bees with a special symbol in our catalogue. Without bees there wouldn’t be any flowers, so we are more than happy to foster their habitat.

Lily Flowering Tulips This group of tulips is named for the shape of their blooms, which resemble old species tulips from Turkey. Their long, pointed petals arch outward and, when fully open, look like a six-point star. Most varieties are blooming late in the season and grow up to 50-60 cm and are not as sturdy as most other tulips. However their grace and elegance easily compensate this.

Species Tulips Tulips that are wild, or close to wild, naturalise extremely well. As most tulips in this class are fairly short, they are absolutely ideal for rock gardens and pots. They also look wonderful when planted in large, one-colour flower beds.

In fact, no other type of planting gives splendour to beds, parks, verges and lawns in spring with such a diverse array of colours and shapes. In addition to bringing colour, variety and cheerfulness, flower bulbs also play an increasingly important role in encouraging biodiversity. By using the right species, they can provide food for butterflies and bees. The flowering period of bulbs can play a crucial role here, given there are hardly any other crops that are a source of food for these insects that early in the year.
94
Bulbs
in public green spaces We have seen a growing interest over the years in the use of flower bulbs in public green spaces. Flower bulbs bring us the first colours after winter and provide that spring feeling so many people long for after the cold, dark months.
Our aim at CSW Landscaping is to respond in various ways to the growing demand for flower bulbs for use in public green spaces. This starts with the composition of our range. While we have a wide selection of tulips and daffodils, CSW Landscaping also spends a lot of time and care selecting our range of special bulbs and tubers. Many species in this group are highly suitable for use in public green spaces because of their ability to flower for several years in a row and the possibility to plant them mechanically. Our product range includes individual species for use in public green spaces as well as various mixes. These mixes can be composed of species that bloom almost simultaneously to create a spectacular display or can also be used to lengthen the flowering period. A carefully selected mix makes it possible to achieve a flowering period of between 8 and 10 weeks. To support our customers in implementing their planting plan, CSW Landscaping offers the possibility of having the bulbs planted mechanically (under grass) and can offer advice about our product range. CSW Landscaping has its own planting machine and, just as important, people with the right expertise to make every planting plan a success. Contact one of our employees, free of obligation, for advice about the best plan for you.

Split Corona and Papillon Narcissus Varieties in this division have a very different flower form compared to the usual flower form. The term split corona refers to the cup which is split for at least 50% of its length. This makes that these varieties have open, upfacing flowers often resembling a hibiscus. Split Corona Narcissus varieties are suitable for mass planting and as cut flower. Most varieties flower mid-spring.

Cyclamineus Narcissus This division of Narcissus has straight slender trumpets and reflexed petals. The reason why this division is called cyclamineus is that several varieties from this group strongly resemble a cyclamen. Cyclamineus Narcissus is one of the first groups to flower in spring. As most varieties from this group are rather small they are performing better when planted close together or in front of the border. They are also excellent for rock gardens and indoor forcing.

Poeticus Narcissus
115
This type of daffodil is also known as the ‘poet’s daffodil’. All species in this group have large white petals and a small corona in contrasting colours, often red and yellow, and are excellent for naturalisation. They have a lovely fragrance and, due to their late flowering, can be easily combined with Single Late Tulips.

Triandrus Narcissus This group is known for its very colourful and long flowering period, not least because each stem contains more than one blossom. The somewhat pendant, nodding flowers have slightly reflexed petals. Most species from this group have a wonderful fragrance. These plants are suitable for use in pots and are known to be a superb naturalising daffodil when planted in a slightly shaded spot. The flowering period is from mid-April until well into May.
