1955 Chev Balair two door hard top By the Heppners of Quesnel I first looked at the car in Cache Creek in 1999 at which time the owner wasn’t ready to sell but every year for the next four years I inquired about buying it and finally in July of 2003 he gave in and my eight year project began. A complete frame off custom restoration started with an1981 Malibu front frame clip a narrowed ford 9” rear end, 468 big block Chev turbo 400 trans with brake and 400 stall and much more. My wife and I cruise every chance we can and enjoy the friday night outings with the local Prospectors Car club and we attend various car shows out of town including the nostalgia drags in Ashcroft.

1925 Model T
By Jeff Lekstrom My 1925 Model T was a labor of love and time, it took me 11 years to build as only worked on it when I had the time and money while raising a family and coaching hockey(You know how it is). Body is a California Custom Roadster by Bill Kieffer, Fiberglass body modified -widened 4 “ and stretched 6 “. I custom built the Frame, Radius Rods, Drag link, Front axle and all other Steel and Aluminum parts, as well as the steering column. Chroming and Brass plating was done by Fairmont Electroplating in Edmonton. It has a Built up 305 with a Turbo Hydro 350 Trani and a Chev 10 Bolt rearend. Continued on next page.
July 28, 1, 2010 June 2012 •• Page 5 1925 Model T continued The Radiator is a Custom”Brassworks” 4 core Rad with Trani Cooler out of California. The Interior was done by a fellow in California that used to work for California Custom Roadsters but retired and lucky for me he had made templates for the custom Body I ordered. So nothing that money can’t fix to coerce him into doing the Interior for the car. Fenders are from Total Performance out of Connecticut and the Brass tail lights are from a company in Kentucky that hand spins these type of lights once per year. Front signals are from Harley Davidson as had to have at least one Harley part on there if you know me. My wife Adeana and my two older children were a big part of this project and my son Morgan took this car to grad as I had made the promise to him when he was 8 years old “it would be finished for his grad” I finished it 2 hours before he took the car to grad. He also used this car in his Wedding a few years ago. This car has been part of our family since we started building it and although I do not get a lot of time to drive it, we have enjoyed the car shows and people we get to meet when we are out with it.

1954 Chev Bel Air By Les and Karen Little, Mackenzie
I purchased this car in Kamloops in 1975 for $250.00, from the original owner, who bought it new in 1954 in Prince George. The owner was in her 70’s when I got the car. The story is that she hit a police car and her licence was pulled, so she put the ‘54 up for sale. The front passenger fender was damaged. I bought 3 ‘54’s in Kamloops for parts, taking what I needed, then selling one that was running for $900.00. My car has been through several mini makeovers through the years, but in 1999, after an impromptu Show in Vernon I started a 10 year frame off restoration. While sitting at this show, my wife and I observed that all the car enthusiasts were in our age group. The guys were all car nuts, the women sitting and crocheting or reading books. We’d found our people! I installed a 350 Chevy V-8 with 11 inch clutch, Saginaw 4-speed transmission and a 1956 Chevy rear end (gear ratio 3:55) The motor was machined at Jim’s Engines in Prince George, then my son Stephen and I assembled it. The car was re-wired with a Painless wiring harness, changing from 6-volt to 12-volt. Improvements included electric window washer and intermittent wipers. The upholstery was done by Trevor at Sure Fit Upholstery in Prince George. Most of the re-chroming was done by Valley Plating in Abbotsford. This car has 15 teeth in the grill, while the original had only 5. That meant finding two additional grills in order to get the set as the teeth are graduated in size. The consul and bucket seats are from an ‘85 Camero. The headliner and visors were in exceptional condition and have never been touched. I started going to car shows while still primer grey in 2007. People were quite interested in the stages of completion. In 2008, I received the “Best Project’ award at the Quesnel Show & Shine. Spring 2009 was when the blue paint finally
appeared. It is a purpley-blue colour called Bordon Blue. In 2010 I won third place in the Modified Street class at the Hixon Show & Shine. In 2011 I was thrilled to be named one of the Favourite 10 in the Dawson Creek Summer Cruise. Over the years my ‘54 has been down the Oregon Coast towing a 17’ travel trailer, into Saskatchewan and all over BC and Alberta. I originally trailered the car to shows but the last two years have driven it. The waves and thumbs up from fellow motorists are very gratifying. While enjoying going to car shows all over BC, I was inspired to organize the Mackenzie Show & Shine. 2011 saw a successful 5th year. My wife, Karen and I enjoy meeting other car enthusiasts, swapping information and becoming part of the car show family.
