July 1 International Tartan Day. Thursday 10.30am Caledonian Park. If wet, Waipū School hall. Waipū Primary School together with Constable Martin Geedes plus rebels John Finlayson and Neil Troost in street theatre about the Act of Proscription of the Highland garb and it's Repeal in 1782. Waipū school Kapa Haka will perform to Commemorate the occasion. Event sponsored by Love Waipū Business & Community Inc.

July 3 Northpine Cup Raceday. Saturday 11am Ruakākā Racing Club. Event sponsored by Northpine.

July 18 Tartan Twilight Walk. Sunday 5pm. Waipū walkway. Meet at the NSP carpark to register. Event Sponsored by Waipū Realty.

July 19 Waipū Scottish Country Dance Club. Monday 7pm. Coronation Hall. Easy dancing and live music with Waipū’s own Twisty Willow - Ceilidh Band. School holiday fun. Adults $5, school children, gold coin entry. Fun easy dances which are all taught with beautiful, live music, including a fiddler and the Bodhrán drums, and supper. Strong on Community

Last year Northpine launched a $20,000 funding programme called Stronger Communities to help the people of Bream Bay.

Grants are made once every three months from applications received each quarter. Applications for the next round of grants close on 16 August and will be announced in early September. Go to our website to find out more and to download an Application Form.

June 2021 recipients: Waipu Lawn Tennis Club; Youth Fit Academy; Whangarei Pipe Band Society; Jan Francis (Matariki event); Bream Bay College (Spirit of New Zealand experience for two students).
