Triple Bill featuring Ingoma

Ingoma (meaning song), created by company dancer Mthuthuzeli November, is a fusion of ballet, African dance and singing. Portraying a milestone moment in South African history, this new ballet imagines the struggles of black miners and their families in 1946 when 60,000 of them took courageous strike action. Completing the evening is Martin Lawrance’s ‘wickedly intelligent’ (The Guardian) Pendulum, an intimate duet reprised for the first time in ten years, and CLICK!, a new, up-beat piece by Scottish Ballet’s choreographer-in-residence, Sophie Laplane.

Saturday 21 December

Returning after a sold out performance on their last visit to Leeds, Rosie Kay’s newest work takes ballet and tutus into the 21st century.

Join Northern Opera Group this December for a rare opportunity to experience the most wonderful and festive of operas.

Fantasia uses dance and science to create an exquisite performance of pleasure, beauty and finesse. Fusing choreography with neurological research, it questions what it is that makes dance beautiful to experience.

It’s Christmas Eve, and all in the village are getting ready for the big day. In the nearby forest, a young elf is learning what Christmas is all about from the wise old Fir Tree. In one magical night two worlds collide, and Christmas will never be the same again…
