Carpe diem Share Your Story Begin by praying together. This should be a brief, simple prayer in which you invite God to give you insight as you study. You can pray for specific requests at the end of your time together or stop momentarily to pray if a particular situation comes up during your discussion. Then begin your time together by discussing the following questions. • What are some of the opportunities you see in life before you? • How can you tell which opportunities are opportunities you should take? • Who is someone in your life who takes a wise approach toward embracing the opportunities God’s put before them? NorthlandChurch.net/Studies Afterward have someone read the discussion questions in the “Hear God’s Story” section and start the conversation.

Hear God’s Story and Create a New Story READ MATTHEW 6:25-34 (NIV) Read the passages together, and then discuss the following questions. • What does Jesus tell us not to worry about in this passage? • Why does Jesus tell us that we don’t need to worry? • What does Jesus tell us to focus on instead? (v34) • What are some things that cause you to worry and distract you from seeking God’s Kingdom?

Find Your Story in God’s Story

If you feel God is nudging you to go deeper, take some time between now and our next discussion to dig into His Word. Explore the Bible passages related to this session’s theme on your own, jotting your reflections in a journal or in this study guide. Want to go deeper? Select a few verses and try paraphrasing them: writing them in your own words. If you like, share them with the group the next time you meet. Where can you see God’s abundance in your present life? Who can you invite to experience that abundance and significance from God? READ EPHESIANS 2:5-10 (NIV)

Welcome

Limited Limited Days, Days Limitless Limitless Life

Let’s worship God together!

The mission of Northland, A Church Distributed is to respond to God for the benefit of others. Our vision is to see people coming to Christ and to be transformed together as we link locally and globally to worship and serve everywhere, every day. Join us!

Your New Year is Waiting Prevailing with the Philippians

• In verse 10 Paul wrote that we’re God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good work. In Psalm 139, King David wrote “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” What does it mean to be God’s handiwork? How does it affect the way you view the people around you to think of them as God’s handiworks?

Connect & Grow

• What good works can you see that God prepared for some of the people in your group or community? What are some of the opportunities your group or community has revealed to you in the past? • How did God save us from our sin and life of scarcity? According to verse 5, why did He save us?

Our website has hundreds of archived worship services, stories about the great work God is doing and ways for YOU to be the church everywhere, every day. NorthlandChurch.net

READ 1 TIMOTHY 6:11B-19 (MSG) • What does a righteous life look like? •W hat kind of riches does God pile on us in our lives? Can you think of practical examples in your own life? Through your group? • J esus said in Matthew 6, “But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” What are the treasures you can pursue this week?

• Ephesians 5:16 tells us to make “the most of every opportunity.” What kind of different perspective on life does that require, than worrying about things?

DIGGING DEEPER

Ephesians 5:15-20 (NIV)

• How do you identify the things you’re worrying about? How do you instead identify the things in life that are opportunities God’s put before you? • How does your community help you focus on the things that God’s calling you to, instead of the things in life that could go wrong? Give each person an opportunity to share prayer requests.
