Canoecopia. The real first sign of spring for paddlers and all the outdoorsy types. Each year dad and I would putter up and down the aisles, dreaming of Canadian wilderness canoe trips, chatting with old friends and making plans for the upcoming paddling season. I started bringing friends along and our yearly excuse to sneak away to shop and dream became a tradition.

I got into the overlanding world and we decided to market our Keweenaw Overland Adventure Retreat there in 2019. Jerry from Tembo Tusk had a booth and so did a few other car camper's favorite brands. I joked with show coordinator (and Rutabaga owner) Darren Bush about the similarities between canoe camping and overlanding. He said he should just dedicate a row for overlanders.

The pandemic dealt the show an awful blow, with the plug being pulled at the last hour in March 2020. Can't blame Darren for making that decision. I am sure it was a rough patch but it is great to see the excitement build for another run at it Maybe see you there
