Looking Forward Looking Blak is an exhibition of visual art and craft from Indigenous artists who are exploring new ways of approaching traditional disciplines and new possibilities of reaching audiences.
It features works of art by many of Australia’s leading contemporary indigenous artists, including Arone Meeks, Dennis Nona, Alick Tipoti, Silas Hobson, Sally Gabori and Roy McIvor.
Detailed, large scale lino prints will be on show alongside vibrant works on canvas, contemporary drawings and traditional baskets and sculptural works.
Looking Forward Looking Blak was curated to coincide with the 50 year anniversary of what is now known as NAIDOC, a week of activities in July to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
